'98 zx6r rotors

Post by idh959 »

Guys,

It'll soon be time to change to front brake rotors on my zx6r. Theyve got more grooves than an old LP. Do you have any suggestions what to go for, where and how much?

Cheers.

If moneys no object go for galfer wave rotors. They are supposed to be a kilo lighter than stock for the front pair. I'd order from the states. Expect to pay $500 US for a front pair. I like supporting the local guys but when you can save $100 or more on stuff.....

Thanks for the tip however, money is an object. Also what are the differences in materials. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I saw somewhere you can get stainless steel discs or cast iron discs.

Going from memory here but stainless rotors are of corse harder and are designed to be used with metal pads and work better than iron ones that are softer and use organic pads. If money is an object go with EBC pro-lite oem replacement rotors.

Chain Gangs the one bud, I had a hell of a game trying to source a decent pair for my 9 and had to go for new in the end.......
Ring em tell em your gonna send em for new rotors and they should turn em round in about 3 days........decent wavy rotors $480 pair built onto your carriers and they do a nice job.
Mine are spot on 1500k's and bedded in nice.

Most of the (non genuine) replacement discs I've seen are slotted Marty. I thinks its less time consuming to make slots. It shouldnt make much difference unless you let some duckhead like the mecnaics at Yamaha West put the buggers on backwards .............. Idjits
