WTF is this for real ??!

Post by javaman »

Poor guy:

revor Flood, 58, who won five championship titles in three categories in the early '70s for his uncompromising off-road riding, came unstuck early this morning when he was arrested as he fossicked through the hard rubbish.

I practically did not furnish my home with hard rubbish stuff, which does not include speakers, lawn mowers, cabinets, heater, chairs, tables, etc. of course :)

But why is the police arresting people taking off rubbish from the street??????

I suspect one of two things happened.
1) They did it as a joke.

2) They were driving around the suburbs, on night shift, and saw a bloke acting weirdly near the front yards of houses. They stop and speak with him and because he's embarrassed he gets a bit cagey and becomes evasive about what he's up to. Is he breaking into peoples houses and stealing stuff? Looking into kids bedroom windows? Causing property damage? They suspect he's committed an offence so he's arrested. Seems fair enough to me. When it turns out he's done nothing wrong he's released without charge. Hardly a story for a national paper.

The local tip has signs stating that anyone caught fossicking will be charged with theft!

Seems they like the rubbish and want to recycle it and get paid twice for it. Just like paying crazy prices to dump it, then they mulch it and sell it for inflated prices.

I think old mate Trev was in the wrong place at the wrong time.However..

Nothing pisses me of more when I leave rubbish out to be taken away by the council and people come around and sift through it like its a feckin garage sale.

Nothing makes me happier than when I leave rubbish out to be taken away by the council and people come around and sift through it like it's a piile of unwanted rubbish. So good to know that the stuff I don't have the time, money, patience or skills to reuse, repurpose or recycle are getting a second chance at usage, instead of proceeding straight to landfill.

To those people I say, Cheers! And thanks for doing your bit to help conserve our resources :kuda:

I like putting crap I no longer want out the front with a sign on it "For sale: $50". That's a guaranteed way to avoid paying to take your rubbish to the tip!

If it's on the curb.. it's the councils property.... ;o)

... but if it's left there at a time when it isn't a council pickup.. it's littering....

Go figure!

.. and i believe re-use is better then it going to landfill!

Where I used to drive home from work there was a deceased estate where they emptied most of the contents of the house onto the nature strip. People picked through it for a few days then they had a busy garage sale on the weekend and people paid for it

Bloody stupid law not allowing people to re use things.

As far as i'm concerned it's quite alright to go through the hard rubbish, Christ even i've done it myself. But the one thing i dispise about some of the sifters is they just throw shit EVERYWHERE in their quest for the elusive non crap, crap. If your not going to take it, put it half back in a pile when your done so it doesn't block the footpath or just look downright disgusting.

I can imagine him acting cagy and embarrassed, I'd likely be thinking the same thing if i was also picked up by the cops while doing an Ibis/tip-rat impersonation.

Are you for real? If I throw something away, it means I don't want it anymore. I haven't given it to someone, but I have stated that I no longer want/own it. Therefore, how can anything be stolen if it no longer has an owner?
