As much as I wont buy or use Apple products or try not too you have to hand it to the man for ideas and innovation and keeping Gates on his toes.

RIP Steve Jobs

Yes it is sad that Steve Jobbs died but the bigger picture is the sad death of Graham Dilley aged 52.

RIP Steve Jobs
the man was a genius...
and one greedy barstage based on the marketing, pricing and business policies of Apple as we saw as consumers here in Oz
I personally won't consider an Apple (anything) because of that

but as I said, Jobs was a genius and innovator
RIP

I've been reading bits and pieces about this on and off today and along with reading some very true things, i also read some very untrue things.

It comes down to the simple fact that Jobbs was a very clever fellow, and I'm sure was far more than just an apple mouthpiece, and had a lot of weight in the direction Apple traveled. If you think about it, it's amazing what he managed to do, keep millions on their toes at his every word and repackage and rebrand others ideas in something slicker and sleeker than before and make every day people (not just geeks) cream their pants in desire to get said "ideas". Also r.e the whole "closed" experience, it may be something that many don't like, but if you think about it, for the sake of a uniform experience, i can kind of understand why he promoted it.

the man was pretty fucking awesome... but a few of you know around here im slightly biased, have 4 working apple products

im not sure any of apples pricing or marketing strategies are any worse than plenty of other companies out there, charging what you think something is worth isnt bad, i think its the most honest way of doing business... it will be interesting to see how the concepts of the apple products continue to develop.

its awful for his family and friends that someone quite young dies from cancer, and dies at all

+1 on that...lots of people die every day leaving people behind to grieve...as many here know.
I think that's more the point than what loss he will be to apple or the geek community.

BTW...We all complain about Kwaka prices. :?

I don't own any apple products more because I don't see the need to add *...from my XYZ using tapayak* and I'm lead to believe I'm one of the few...

Long live apple!

Did you know the guy bought Pixar for 10 million bucks in 86, only to sell to Disney in 2006 for more than 7 billion.

He was sacked by the CEO of apple in 1985, so he went and founded another computer company, only to be bought out by apple in 1996, way to get back in huh?

When he came back to apple they were on the verge of bankruptcy and he turned it around. Apple is now the most valuable company in the world based on share market capitalization.

it really is quite an extraordinary story and there is no doubt that the world has lost an extraordinary individual in Steve Jobs.

You have to hand it to the man, he revolutionized the way we interact via their products. Hats off to that, RIP to Steve and bring on the next big thing.
