Bit much I reckon...... for those dollars you should be able pick up a fuel injected model (after 2003)

Thinking same pretty exy for a 99 with 86k on it. Mind you it could be immaculate and that's the advertised price so you will prob get a bit off that price

86k's on a 6 is starting to get up there. My 12 has 80 on it and is near due for a cam chain and would probably benefit from a top end freshen up if I was really fussy. So on a 6 it is more likely to need more, due to the higher revs and generally, higher work rate they are asked of. For $4500 I would look for something with less klms. I realise that you have the benefit of being able to partially fund the bike with your current bike as a trade, but what is your current bike and what's it's real market value. Are you better to be patient and sell yours privately, then using the additional coin, going out and buying a later model with less klms privately? You're going to pay a $2-2.5K premium, sometimes more for the pleasure of trading in your current bike. So weigh it up......... desire for a new to you bike now, desire to have the best possible bike for the coin, a little later?

Sometimes that desire to have something new wins out.... and that's OK. Just as long as you can deal with the fact that you are then going to be always telling yourself...... shit... I coulda had THAT if I waited a bit!! ;)

Hey Strika,

THanks for the detailed post and I agree with you and after carefull consideration i have decided not to go with the 99 model. There is a 2008 model with only 9000km on the odometer and for $7000 so i will be test riding that and bringing along a friend who is a knowledgeable kawasaki and mechanic to make sure it is ok.
