hoffy, i learnt some good lessons on my zx2.
but yeah, i dunno why so many ppl wait they're time b4 getting a bigger bike. esp when they might be able to ride a shit-load better than many old-men who ride their harley's twice a year.
dan, wonders will never cease.

TAC maybe, If when i had my accident I was restricted, I wouldnt have been covered for the 900 dollar ambulance ride, or any of the other benefits.

as one who unfortunately has had to use the TAC
yes...TAC covers ambos (and most other costs)
unless
you are unlicenced or driving an unregistered veeehickle
in which case the Vic Ambulance Service asks for $$$
a call out for an Ambo here in Melbourne is a minimum $550

of course you can also become an Ambo member for $70pa
cheap i reckon
cheers

valid question i spose, considering we often ride interstate...
i mean if they fine ya interstate, then they take ur points...if u crash interstate, u should be able to claim that, after all u guys pay that $50 levy...
over here we have private insurance or ambo cover, as im pretty sure it was in NSW wen i left too...admittedly i think my ambo fee was abt $6-700 from maquarie pass to shelly hosp...
i tell ya what, the insurance companies wouldnt want to not honour ne 1 travelling interstate in that case would they...could they??
in NSW my MBF covered unlimited ambo ....i transfered same cover to SA and it covered 1 EMERGENCY LIFE THREATENING per year...now who's tp determine life threatening??

				Ok
TAC once they accept your application - will pay for the ambo, any medical costs after you spend $560 bucks of your own(lucky, because my insurance company covers for the first $500 hence $60 dollar gap)
Will also (after 5 days off) pay your work for your time off and your sick leave gets reimbursed from TAC.
You pay alot of money in VIC for the TAC insurance on your rego, I just personally could not even think about risking not being covered by it because I wasnt legally allowed to ride the bike i was on, etc. just a big waste of money, and your life if something serious happens!! but thats just me, Vince had his issues with the 250 and had to upgrade for reasons of his own and that was his choice!

This may have changed, but my understanding of TAC, is that it covers the vehicle not the driver as such, and therefore, if you are injured it don't matter if you are licenced or not????

They'll more than likely find you un-elligible for TAC cover.
It covers the vechicle, but its third party as such. so your vechicle covers what damage you do to the other person.
However, if you're not legally allowed to ride bigger than 260cc - and you get hit by a car, They will say well you were breaking the law and shouldnt have been riding the bike. Hence we're not going to pay for your medical fee's.
Same would go, if you impacted with a car while doing 200kmph..

well it is about that neka. but after so many k's its about 20 bucks per k i think, and a chopper ride goes into the thousands..
sure pays off to have ambo cover...

funny we are talking abt this..did ne1 see the dude on the news who got a $6mill payout from insurance cos he a quadraplegic now??
he let a 16yo unlicenced family freind drive a vehicle on the road...and the kid crashed & everyone else was ok, but this dude (owner of car) was injured. Now the insurance company argued that he had allowed an unlicenced, uninsured kid drive his car, and he was breaching the law...but he still got $6mill...
i reckon its bullshit...
