Mate it is only my opinion but I would not weld it. Cast is a very impure material and it will not be a strong weld. Do you want it to snap again when you need it most?
I am a welder and if it were mine i would throw it in the bin...
I wont be going for the weld option, as i sent the pic to a wreckers, via email, and they said the brake lever is fine, and all i have to get is the bracket, which will only cost me $65.... so im not gona bother with the new rearsets anymore... maybe in the future, if i win a couple hundred at the casino, ill fork out for some sato's or sumthin...

but people say they are good to have... wat ill do is if ever i see anyone that has em, ill give em a go on their bike, and see what i think... but in the meantime, $65 to fix my problem seems alot more attractive to me...
the way i see it is similar with a laptop we had in the workshop for repair.
we diagnosed a faulty motherboard and contacted compaq. they actually agreed to replace the motherboard for free on this laptop as the issue was a manufacturing issue from 5 years ago!
Their idea was that the fault could not be created by the user.
your lever breaking should in my opinion be covered by kwaka as these items are manufactured to resist mild force. You would have had a hairline fracture during the forging stage and it really isnt your fault unless you had an elephant sit on it which would exceed the levers tolerance.
Same happened with toshiba with a $200 laptop charger...i rang them and said that the item being 14months old had failed far too prematurely compared to chargers of an age of 5-7 years which still run.
They agreed that this was a fair call and replaced it for free even though it was out of warranty.
you gotta tell kwaka that a fault like this would not occur naturally and unless the bike was dropped the bike would not show any sign of foul play to cause the break.
kwaka should honour it and take the issue up with the company that
made the lever.
if it was the windshield that cracked then they could say uv and weather conditions allowed it to degrade and crack.
metal wouldnt fatigue that much from weather and general usage.
yeh thats sorta where i was coming from aswell... but in the end, i got the bracket from a wrecker for around $70.... so it was worth me wasting my time with kwaka..
