Rubbish. I run 28 and 32, as per the manual, and the tyres only warm up a bit. You can't just give a pressure without qualifying what load and contact area is expected. There is no one pressure that rules them all.

how about just riding with watever pressure feels comfortable for u!!

Firstly Mig, a 250 has a way different tyre than other 600 and 1000 bikes. Yes you are correct in stating that there is no one pressure that rules them all, however we are talking about a ZX6r with BT014's.

Secondly Strika, you obviously run a myriad of different tyre pressures on your different bikes for different reasons, but we are talking about a ZX6R here with BT014's, for which 30-32 psi is too low, as indicated by yourself above..

Thirdly Wattie, I would suggest trying 35-36 psi in your tyres and you might get more life out of them, and I would say that tyre pressures dont suddenly give you pace or turn you into an experienced road rider with balls of steel..we all could ride as fast with 30 psi in our tyres as we do with 36psi, the only only difference is a difference in feel and longevity of the tyre..and that 014 was a OEM off a suzuki which had a disgracefull wear rate, and they clearly weren't as durable as the other 014's available in the market.

Fourthly Wattie, whats wrong with a little advice, I took Phils advice to try 36F 41R on my bike, as thats what he runs, and it feels great, and I would never have thought 41 would be any good..fark why are you in a bike club if you cant share advice ?? BTW your pressures would have to be a little different than everyone elses, as you have to encounter the odd mid corner off road excursion !

No wonder people dont come on rides in KSRC anymore, the friendly helpfull attitude has been replaced with bitchy sarcasm..In fact I wouldn't be surprised if OZTEN doesn't come up the old road based on what he's seen in this thread..which is dissapointing as Im sure Myself, Wattie, Dave 3, Cath and Dave, if we put our heads together, could have possibly helped him out with his set up over a coffee and a ride up the old road, which is I might add the farkin benefit of being in the once great club of KSRC..but no, the bloody Victorian and SA experts wouldn't have that would they, its all too easy to criticise from 1500k's away, without having to actually rock up on the day and help out..fark no wonder we cant get anyone but the regulars to participate.

OZTEN, call Strika, maybe he has the time to catch up and sort a set up for you, as he is clearly unhappy with anyone else trying to help anyone else in Sydney out without his authoritar !!

umm i could be wrong here, but i thought the idea of a forum was to gather a myriad of advice and opinions and figure it out for urself?? ... it appears uve got the shits with us for giving our opinion/advice...??

anyway..OZ hope ya sort it out..as i said, i would look at getting the susp set up 1st, and then try a few different pressures to see what works...

i prefer low 30"s
Hoffy likes it harder- high 30's to low 40's.

Get back in ya box Hoffy! For a start, I qouted firgures based on actual usage/ownership over 17,000klms of a 2005 ZX6R at times often running BT014's! Ozten asked for anyone with knowledge of this bike and those tyres. Thus, I quoted my experience! How many 2005 ZX6R's running BT014's have you owned?????

Secondly, Don't bring Dave, Cath, Wattie and co into this! No one has ever mentioned them till you brought them up! And you're right, I am sure between them that they could cort Ozten's bike! But lord please don't allow them to let you at it!

Thirdly, running the pressures you quoted would have a little bike like a 6 never enabling the tyres to reach operating temps as they are pumped up higher than Marion Jones!

Fourth, your weight was mentioned in conjunction with your bike and tyre pressures as it has a LOT to do with what you run! A 60 kg rider on a ZZR250 will benefit from slightly lower pressures than a 120kg rider on a Land bagre ZX12 for example!

As for opinions, they are definately like arseholes. Some just pour out crap, some look good but smell like crap and others are loud with very little substance! Which one are you?

Okay, but you said "no matter what you ride". I have no idea whether you're recommendations for a ZX6 are sensible, my beef is with the "no matter what you ride" comment. Mistakes happen

I run 41psi F&R on the SB12R.....one up with a rack
and that seems to be a nice combo ..not too hard (shorter tyre life)
not too soft (which can result in poor handling or braking performance)

size and power of a bike can dictate tyre pressure
2fiddys can get away with lower pressures than a Zx9 or 10

Tyres, air pressure from cold...
FRONT 250kPa (2.50 kgf/cm2, 36psi)
Rear 290kPa (2,90 kgf/cm2, 42psi)

This would assume you are still running the Dunflop Qualifiers that are fitted as standard. Pressures should vary from tyre choice and air/road pressure and how hard you play to be pushing. Warmer it is and harder you push, lower the pressure you use.

I agree with Neka it looks a bit square, which will affect turn in. The level of graining you have is negligable, looks like the rubber is working OK.
