Just replace the filter, they're about ten bucks.

Air filters are hideously expensive, instead I use generic filter foam for dirt bikes. Cost me about $15 and there is enough for three filters.

:shock: I suggested cutting up dirt bike foam for the air filter to a mate who was helping me service my bike and he got angry and yelled at me not to do it. ANd said that you need to use the ones made for your bike so bits of dust dont get into your engine. But how often do you have to change the air filter any way? I think I need a new one. :oops:

Good work here crew. i'm with dave on the Phillips heads, repalce 'em too champ.
If you intend keeping the bike for 30 years i'd use oem filters. Other then that change oil & clean the Carbies regualarly & i'd doubt you'll have any fitting an oiled foam element.
