Can't really go away for a week Mick. Not with the missus 3 weeks away from popping the next one out. I'm not sure if the smell = toxic vapour, or if the smell is just the smell and the toxic shit has been and gone with the windows open.

Mate that's sounds like a good enough reason to get away to me, as if you're going to get any sleep/sex/privacy/spare time later.

If you want a taste of what it's going to be like in a few years get in your car and drive to the next suburb. Drive home, have half a cup of tea, drive back to the same suburb and come home and heat up the remaining half in the microwave. Go back out at midnight and drive back again. Ok, that's Friday night done, repeat this all weekend, starting with Auskick at 9am Saturday morning.

While you're trying to enjoy private 'mum and dad' time Sunday morning (it's dad and his 'girlfriend' time for me) AND assuming one of your kids hasn't got work or a friend over that needs taking home, arrange for a friend to ring randomly every now and again and for your mother in law to come into the room without knocking (it's the same result as one of your kids coming in believe me). My kids have learnt very quickly in the last few years that they shouldn't burst into the room without knocking if they don't want the facts of life explained with a practical session. And really, do you REALLY want to see two people in their mid-40s get hot and sweaty...umm, thought not .

I suppose I have asked for the taxi-driving duties living 10 kilometres from town, if I had my time again I'd be in suburbia, well at least on the outskirts of town anyway

Mick, sounds to me like you've been doing it wrong. My kids will learn early on that Dad doesn't do anything until AFTER he has finished his coffee.

Spoke to the manufacturer. They assure me that the smell will remain a while, but if the house is ventilated properly, the fumes that are bad for you will be gone in a few hours.

Set up portable fans at the windows to remove the solvent quicker as just a bit of air flow will make a big difference and keep the little ones and especially the knocked up one away

After 10 days (6 to 7 hours a day) on my hands and knees, scrubbing floors, I've finally finished!

The last week with the respirator made a big difference. Without it I was having extreme bouts of paranoia - at one stage I was convinced there was someone standing behind me and about to attack me, but when I turned around it turned out to be the pedastal fan I'd put there only moments before! With the respirator I only had mild headaches.

My back hurts, my knees hurt, ,my neck hurts and my toes hurt - sounds like a standard overnighter at Staces.
