If you want to know your true top speed try using a GPS. Most have battery power and will stick to the windscreen. Some models will even record your top speed so you dont need to look down. Any tips on which wire to use(2000 zx12r) to add a lighter plug so my bike can supply power the GPS?

Hi seiko1,
I have a healer on my ZX14 and it is an easy fit and works well. Did it for accuracy of speedo (both speed and distance (odometer) rather than eliminating the speed limiter.
I used a GPS to set mine up and found the factory setting to be between 4.5% and 5% generous.
You can get your speedo accurate to around +/- 0.1 km/h.
Tyre wear and tyre inflation will affect the settings but not by much.
Worth the investment as it is easily removed and put onto your next bike or resold.
Regards,
Gordo
