A GOOD physio, chiropractor or osteopath will do the same sort of thing these days. Unfortunately there are still heaps of not so good ones around. All three disciplines should take a holistic approach and will all work the soft tissue and mobilise joints to relieve neural impingement. My Physio utilises cupping and dry needling (acupuncture) among plenty of other hands on techniques but doesn't use any electronic devices. Times have changed and the good ones have learnt from the other disciplines so that they all do similar work now.

Your best bet is to find a good physio/osteo who works with professional athletes. It will require a combination of progressive exercises and soft tissue work (massage) to help it recover so be prepared to go a few times to get it right (ie once a week for a few weeks). Preventative taping will also help to avoid recurrence when you are doing things that load it up. If you want, I can tape it up for the Christmas track day.
Yep, the physio guy picked it pretty quickly so I'm kind of happy with his diagnosis. He's got me doing weirdo wrist exercises with light weights and massage of the muscles in my forearm before the twelfth so he reckons I should be cool. Bring your tape just in case though. Thanks mate. :D :D

Have you changed your hand position on the bars? It could be your wrist angle whilst riding?

Massage around the tendons with arnica cream, start in circular motion then follow along the the tendon to stretch it out.

If it gets worse you will loose pressure in your grip - working with a stress ball will help along with the excercises you are already doing.

This is common in any sport where you grip and twist, a number of the older guys in our BMX club have has this (including myself). There are straps that go around the top of your forearm, these constrict the muscle and stop it from pulling the tendons so hard. I always ride the pushy wearing one, and probably will at the Xmas track day too.

Apparently this can take anywhere from two weeks to 6 months to settle down....awesome

Anyone done anything like this and what do you do the get it sorted quicker (no pills either). I've got exercises to do for the next two weeks so hopefully it'll be better by the Chrissy track day.....
Maybe 6 weeks ago mate, I did exactly the same thing (with same result) - from building a tree-house !!! Screwing in all the floorboards, which were about head-height for me off the ground, I had me arms up high, pushing down vertically on the drill, to screw the boards in.

Well about 2 days after, my right elbow just started aching like a bitch - and it has not gotten any better at all. I can still ride the bikes without pain, but try lifting anything etc, well its a fuckin' nightmare. A physio at work recommended Voltaren Gel, which does seem to have a temporary light effect, but it has not fixed anything.

So its off to get some exercises now, I have *never* had anything like this happen before, and it is shitting me right off.... :x - Getting old is a right cnut.

Got a similar problem when I started tiling that bathroom shower enclosure, all day doing squat stands in a confined space can really open your eyes to how out of shape your legs are. Could hardly walk for two or three days
Then I HTFU'D and got on with it ya old carnt!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party...... Even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps... With a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over...
I'm aware that other people's grandchildren are not nearly as cute as mine.
I'm so cared for --- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.

I'm not really grouchy, I just don't like:

Traffic, Waiting, Crowds, Lawyers, Loud music, Unruly kids, Barking dogs, And a few other things I can't seem to remember right now.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.
I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.
I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days, and when did they let kids become policemen?
I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?
And, how can my kids be older than I feel sometimes?

I'm a walking storeroom of facts..... I've just lost the key to the storeroom door.

Have an Awesome Day :kuda:
