They will be a LOT cheaper in 12 months.
As for those dorky glasses......TCL does one with a special screen in front of the display so you don't need the glasses
But I wouldn't recommend that brand to my worst enemy
They have one on display at Crown Casino in Melb

We're looking at renting them soon, so I'll let you all know the verdict

MrWasabi wrote:If it goes the way of option 2, prices of 3D TVs will remain high, while your current high def equipment like plasma led lcd etc will become a lot cheaper.[/url]That's the whole pricepoint thing, and the prices have been gradually reducing anyway, this would just send it further south.
MrWasabi wrote:Anyway thats my 2 cents,
here is an article that will help 3DTV go the way of option 1, and my personal preference. I think 3D movies should be kept at the movies, as a novelty we can enjoy every now and then.
Interesting, i mean it genuinely.

I'll wait until they develop holographic TVs.
No glasses needed.
I'm happy to go to the movies to watch something in 3D IF it's appropriate for 3D

It's the porn industry in the US which is driving the whole 3D DVD industry !!
Wearing 3D glasses will be just like wearing sunnies inside the house - once you do it a few times, it will feel entirely normal.
But having bought a big LCD only a couple of years ago, I am highly unlikely to be replacing it with a 3D model anytime soon - maybe a retirement present !!

The porn industry drove adoption of plenty of other technologies like super 8, vhs, the internet etc. There's no doubt it'll drive adoption of 3D too.

My old man bought one yesterday, and while flicking through to the 3D channel they had the origin on, the quality was pretty good, but I got sick of having the glasses on. Don't think I could be bothered having one.

Not much good for us folks with less than average eyesight. Can't see in 3d.
They were shooting a 3d movie at the IOM TT this year, due for release next year.
That would be pretty awesome to watch.

and the added bonus of wearing glasses while watching porn is that you probably won't cop an eyeful !!!!

how does that work ? You can't get the 3D 'effect' unless you have polarisation of 2 images from a screen, and you don't get that without glasses ?

Works in the same way holographic stickers do. The polarization is done before the image leaves the screen and enters your eyes.

3d tv will never happen on a flat panel screen
