Everything is back together, used the kneadable epoxy and a washer to plug the hole in the muffler. I figured out that the hole was there because that is where the centrestand ended up contacting. After i get a new pair of muffler that aren't made out of italian rust-magnet mild steel (these new ones are made in the USA) i'll have to put a little rubber lug on the muffler /the centrestand to stop it happening again.
Tomorrow i need to get more muffler wrap as i have to cut back/replace some of the wrap that is on the crossover as it's making a god-awful racket. Fingers crossed that aside from the muffler replacement in the near future, this is the end of it all.

Hmm, was a hole on the crossover you could fit your thumb through. However it's plugged with a good sized lump of kneadable epoxy and then reinforced with a few layers of strategically placed muffler wrap. Long term fix is to get hold of a welder and cut off the metal behind the headers and then recreate the rest of the crossover and muffler mount. Love to do it myself (and i will learn how and then do it myself after i have an appropriately setup garage), but would likely have to get a muffler shop to do it for me if it needs to be done prior to me being able to

Took her to work this morning and the epoxy held, however the shitty metal located next to the bit i patched up didn't, so coming up the wakefield parkway the volume suddenly doubled

. Next step is headers off again and give it a thorough once-over to make do until i can get someone to replace the metalwork *sigh*.

Chalk one up for findapart! put a request in for a new header system last night as i've gotten the shirts with my current bucket-o-rust (tm) setup and wanted to find a non rusted part. Got an email this morning from Eastern Motorcycle Wreckers regarding a 2-1 (which is what i was hoping to get hold of compared to a 2-2 anyway) and hopefully it's in the post by c.o.b. today! for $125 delivered, woohoo! Fingers crossed its here by friday.
