Well, I usually defend the riders in these situations as you all know. However, this guy is a bike thief and deserved what he got. :x

But, to answer your post topic question..........because they can! You only ever hear about the ones who didn't get away, not the ones that managed to get away ;)

Idiots like this make us all cop it. Higher CTP, more targeting of riders by police, poor public image. No-one will remember that he was unlicenced and riding a stolen bike, it will be recorded as just another motorcycle crash where the rider was at fault and speed was a factor! Good one you fucking moron

And amazingly when "shit turns to trumps" the coppers have called the chase off about a minute before

It's not that amazing really Billy. The coppers call it off, but the tool keeps riding/driving like a moron. At the same time they are now constantly checking their mirrors to see if the coppers are still behind them (just with their lights and sirens off). Suddenly there is a decreased amount of attention on where they are going and BAMMO!!

The "called off the chase 2 minutes before" has become a bit of a cliche; it's a standard response after every crash ensuing from a pursuit. It's a bit like the reflex press release that any single-vehicle accident is due to excessive speed. I question the "lucky to escape with their lives" comment, though. Last time I checked, on most occasions that a motorcycle hits a car the motorcyclist comes off 2nd best (and yes, I've seen the photos of the Honda that hit a vehicle at 200+ in Europe).

He's still a dick, for stealing the bike and riding like a fuckwit.
