"A motorcyclist and a police officer have been hurt in a crash in East Bentleigh, in Melbourne's south-east.
An unmarked police car was making a U-turn on Centre Road, near Magnolia Avenue, when it crashed into the motorcyclist just after 9:00am (AEST).
The 22-year-old was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The driver, a senior constable, was taken to the Monash Medical Centre with minor injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash"

FMD I thought that may have been the case as it had gone quiet.
One of my neighbours had an accident & ran over some guys foot in a shopping centre carpark..... he did not have bad injuries & it was her back wheel so its not like she could really see him, needless to say she was distraught at the time...... so this guy decides to have charges laid..... fair enough but remember this was an accident....
So she is told by her lawyer to take it to court reluctantly she does & cops 12 months suspension of her licence get fucking real! she has 3 kids to ferry around to school etc her life has been turned upside down.
Only lesson she has learnt is don't trust any carnt! Lawyers Magistrates Cops the whole lot.

It's pretty poor form from the cops. This poor bloke was on Channel 7 news last night because low-and-behold, the cops have done a runner on him and don't want to know about it. And yes, that's from the organisation which glady defended the actions of Sen Constable Peta "Cupcakes" Carbonneau, who killed rider Luke Wilson in Woodend two years ago. Any wonder she got off?
As for me, a car doing an illegal u-turn on Beach Rd, Black Rock, nearly killed me late last year. I'm still in and out of hospital/rehab/therapy and it's a nightmare, but I tell you what - police made it a whole lot worse. It was the evening just two days after Christmas, that my girlfriend and family had rushed to Alfred emergency trauma to get a chance to see me on life support, and all the policewoman had done was pass on a message to them that they should call the guy who did it and tell him I was "okay", because he was "traumatised" and a "silent victim". Two months went by and the first I heard from the police was a phone call early one morning by the same cop, she was surprised that I was still in hospital, let alone a brain injury unit (nice she did her homework). She just asked me to do the same - could I please consider contacting the guy who did it? She had no idea that even if I wanted to, I was in NO state to do so at the time.
Nice that the driver was concerned, don't get me wrong, but the actions of the cop asking me the victim and my family to do something about his being traumatised or whatever was just a bit off. All the while, she also never took a statement from me about the crash (not that I can remember anything, but I could testify to my safe riding), she also waited FIVE months and for a complaint from my lawyer to actually progress the investigation and in the end just wrote out a $239 infringement ticket for the guy, plus 2 demerit points. I still cannot drive/ride anything and even when/if I am medically cleared, I have to be re-tested, which is fine, but strange, don't you think?
Anyway, the short of it is that the TAC have been interesting to deal with as well, and fairly keen to make it all my fault as well for riding a motorcycle. That has been their attitude to me and also contained in documentation of theirs which my lawyer has obtained. But all we here is that it is all up to riders to reduce the risks. We are not dumb are we? Do they honestly think we do not understand our own vulnerability against stupid drivers??
So, if you use Facebook, go to the Transport Accident Commission page and see what I am up to. Look for their campaign about riders - I am starting a "Name and Shame" counter-campaign against drivers who do illegal u-turns. Feel free to join in if you see a driver doing an illegal u-turn, but of course I am not asking anybody to support me with this, because it's not me to ask individual people to do things, but it's there if you want to have a look. See how long the TAC let it stay there - of course it would be strange if they remove my comments because they are true and reflect shameful dangerous driver behaviour. I am basically trying to get them to run a campaign on the dangers of illegal u-turns. This behaviour has killed seriously injured too many people, and I am very lucky to be alive, but wow what a year of crazy medical torture it has been.
I'm not looking for sympathy here, just pointing out what can happen without any fault or negligence on your own part whatsoever - I can guarantee you I was not doing anything remotely stupid or dangerous - witnesses all agree that I didn't have a chance, he pulled out too quick in a spot which was clearly illegal to do so. That's what angers me most. If you want to show support, just take a look at the Facebook page. I hope nobody else or their family has to go through something like this. It's only been a few weeks since I've been able to stand up - but I stand up for all of us.
