Back in 1988 or was it 1989, I recall policing was a bit more relaxed. It was around the time of the 1st MotoGP (or whatever it was called then) at PI and about 100,000 fans on race day. Once we were off the island after the race it cost me $1.40 to stay with the pack heading down Bass Hwy to Cranbourne. The Highway Patrol were spaced regularly along the road and just leant against their cars and let the pack go. Don't seem to recall any dramas as a result. But we weren't a nanny state then.

yep - a blitz around MotoGP time is hardly a surprise.... - it sucks donkey balls big-time.....but its no surprise.

Yer like the time a few years ago, on the sat wave off from cranny, led by police(fuck did i just say POLICE) i meant the filth, they led the bunch heading down, and a shit load of them got booked for speeding!! under police escort!!Didnt that cause a outrage.

Also at this time of year alot more "Random Checks" of riders occur.
Why?
Because the weather is good and bikes get wheeled out of the garage by people that shouldn't. If you crash without TAC insurance then if you are not already badly hurt then your hip pocket will be.
There have been some stupid acts on the Bass hwy during the Grand Prix period and some have led to death. Nobody wants that.
So the simple fact of the matter is keep your head down and play by the rules. The Information has been put out there that you as a motorcyclist will be a target so take heed. If you get done then your a fuckwit for not listening.
