threads like this always end up with a shitfight. There have been heaps in the past ....

at least its not a fuel thread where the blood runs free on the floor !!!

I just really get the shits with any defense of indefensable driving like in that video. Been involved in far too many real-life incidents with truck drivers who really *don't* give a fuck about other road users to give them the benefit of the doubt - even on that exact stretch of road !!! Sure, maybe only 10% of truck drivers drive like this - I don't give a fuck, thats 10% too many.

C'mon brad, you cant defend all the truckies.
That one was a bit out of his lane.

But it is a logging road after all, so care should be exercised especially during week days.

Bottom line should be if you can't keep your vehicle on your side of the road you shouldn't be on that road. That sort of shit driving is indefensible. I can't believe people have actually tried to justify it.

Nah fortunately it wasn't me, I was just using it as an example of why I don't road ride any more. That exact section was one of my favorites after the resurface around ten years ago.

Probably why I don't like the idea of filming, seems to be tempting fate.

We all say well lucky the bike rider didn't panic, what would have happened had a another truck or car going the other way done? I would say lucky they were on a bike as a car or truck would have been in the shit.

On a side note - don't blame the end consumer for deadlines that can't be met, you have the ability to say no and just because someone else is prepared to is no excuse for throwing the rule book out the window

Yeah..... this truck driver may or may not be a drugged up farkwit, but no one knows for sure, cause we weren't there and we don't know him. How many bike riders have run wide and crossed to the wrong side of that same road.

I'm just sick of the generalising that all truck drivers are on drugs and are trying to kill every other motorist. Sure there is a minority of truck drivers that are cowboys, just like there are a number of bike riders that are.

True but Smithy's point is that not all so let's not generalise as when then tend to prejudice all because of a few, a bit like all motorcyclists are hoons (well at least 90% are)

Agree!

Ride to the conditions which includes thinking out side the box
- you see shit on the road, maybe animals ahead.. +road being slippery
- good twisty bit of road, maybe wana be car/bikers coming yoru way
- public holidays, more traffic caravans/campers etc..

Be proactive not reactive.

Would you rather be RIGHT and DEAD or CAUTIOUS and ALIVE?

I didn't watch it but, as far as holontights comments go, you did state that its like the truck drivers are trying to kill motorcyclists (maybe not the exact wording) - even if they kill one of accidently (not good and yes they have committed a crime), to state they are trying to kill the motorcyclists is way off the mark.

Also, re the trucks being on the wrong side of the road, obviously, like in any group, there are wankers, however, what pisses me off (and I am refering to the Putty in particular) is that whilst the truck drivers cant avoid being on the wrong side sometimes, the motorcyclist can ALWAYS and yet I have seen it so often where they are on the wrong side on blind corners. There is no excuse for this which really make the motorcyclist the bigger wanker - especially if I am on my side of the road and he/she is coming towards me on my side.

Now I will duck

the logging trucks up there are usually pretty good but that does happen. worse on the tighter roads  between them, the kangaroos/wallabies and the tourists you need to be alert.
coming down often the log trucks pull over at the picnic ground and let us through :D

I'm always driving trucks and heavy machinery and there are some very arrogant truck drivers out there. Cage drivers are still worse. But tell me this, how is a truck driver supposed to see a bike coming around a blind corner if the bike has the fender removed?
