So I inspected a 2005 ZX10R last weekend. I negotiated to $5K and took it for a test ride.

I did not buy the bike because it backfired a bit, and I don't want to inherit problems.

From the quick test ride I really liked it. Although it did vibrate a lot and felt heavier than my old R6 (which was only 1kg lighter on paper).

The low RPM torque was not as "incredible" as I thought.

Yep $2,500 is certainly a good fix for a all around bike

They are geared stupidly tall stock. You need to drop a tooth on the front sprocket to get them back to a reasonable gearing and then they feel ok at lower revs. All 1000's will vibrate more than 600's; they just do. If it backfired on deceleration, it could just be the Kleen system not blocked off, but if it was accelerating, then there is something definitely wrong.

That's actually not a bad option, but it will feel a bit heavier than your 6. ;)

Thanks .. yes I looked at the ZX9R but never been a real fan (it looks like the ZX6R brother)? And I heard they are heavy.

I really like the 2004-2005 ZX10R looks! Might need to wait a while for prices to come down and get a good example.

I still have my R6, use it for daily commute :D

Good example and prices coming down don't seem to mix when looking for a Crim as they have such a following.

I think Western Motorcycles have an 05 in for $7K with highish k's but they also have an 08 ZRX12R for $8K with reasonable K's!
