You wont have a problem with tank slappers on a ZX2 buddy, forget about it and save for a better bike.

The RG250 must have been worked , pipes etc as stock they are sweet to ride , very smooth linear power 45hp versus the RGV take off at 8K 60 HP
The RG250 is a Lams bike and after riding one i would much rather it than a CBRRRRR nice upright position and comfy , anyone want one an RG that is , have a nice cheap one in the garage with a genuine 10K on the clock , can i try and sell it on here ?

being a su*&#i and all that

2 words I have never seen in the same sentence as RG250, are 'linear power'
mate, the tacho's started at 3000rpm !!!! they were about as 'linear' as drag car........
nothing at all under about 5000rpm, then
everything in between 5000 and 8-9000.......that ain't linear.......and I love me little 2-strokers, don't get me wrong.......and yes, the RGV was *worse* ( or better

depends upon your point of view...)
a CB250N has a 'linear' power delivery...........very little down low, very little mid-range, and very little up top..........thats linear

Details
its a LAMS bike
2 years ago i got it sorted and then put away in the shed , now its got a new battery , needs the carbs cleaning again as has been away and currently is a 125

, new rubber required as it has the original tyres on it
I really CBF'd cleaning the carbs again so $1100 take it away
any newbies that are interested in it i am more than happy to instruct and supervise you cleaning the carbs , but as i said I CBF'd doing it myself

Well i dunno about the ones you rode , as i said , nice and linear all the way to 10500 RPM , I'm sure a nice set of pipes would do just the trick

, Having a shedfull of RGVs i know exactly their on and off power delivery , this was why i was so surprised at the RG250 at how smooth and easy it is to ride

Yes, its all relative really - compared to an RGV250, the RG would seem smooth and easy to ride..........but compared to a 250 4-stroke of the era, the RG is as peaky as buggery.......
I thought that the LAMS rules specifically banned any of the high-performance 2 strokes ??? Even today, I still shake my head at the number of people who were hurt on a 250 stroker, when a far-more appropriate bike for a learner would be a 500 four-stroke twin ( say GS500 or ER5.....) - or a Hardley of any capacity *chortle*
(must admit that my *learner* RD250 actually had 350 pistons, barrels and heads, the 350 casting was removed from the barrels, and '249cc' stamped in its place for rego purposes

) such a naughty boy back in 1980

in all honesty i find it a far better machine than a CBR250RRR
it does almost half the revs , a little more power and a whole lot more torque and less weight and from this its a whole lot easier to ride
combined with the seating position etc its a whole lot better if you were of ahem larger build
either way , who wants it and Gosling can take it fora ride and reaquaint himself with a 2 stroke
