My route to work has bike lanes for about half the distance (brighton road, st kilda road). I use them in peak congestion where I would otherwise lane split. It is much easier. If the law was to be changed I think motorbikes would have to give way to bicyles in those lanes, or not be able to overtake bicycles in those lanes, otherwise the bike lane will be useless to bike riders.

1. They do not use fuel/do not pollute
2. Promote healthy ness.
3. It' would be rediculous to try and make push bike users pay registration. I mean, come on????
4. If the govt makes push bikes a more attractive way to commute, there goes traffic congestion and the most important;
5. Riding pushbikes make the person riding them more healthy, the healthier they are, the less likely they are to flood the health system in their golden years with diabetes, heart problems & Disease, and a whole range of stuff than can be technically avoided by a healthy lifestyle!
Motorbikes
1. Use fule/pollute
2. May be fuel economic, however, most performance bikes (that we ride) would not be that far off of a small/economic car.
3. Percentage rates show (and i know percentages can be played with to show whatever you want) - that Motorcyclists have accidents (more motorcyclists have accidents in percentage, than car drivers) i Believe. - This causes, motorcylists to obtain injuries that may cause even more severe problems for the duration/or golden years of their life, clogging the health system.
4. Despite all this, we as people will always ride motorbikes, or continue to, and no matter what still love the feeling etc of motorcycling, and take the risks on board as soon as we throw a leg over them. Hence paying more TAC premium (in vic anyways)..

so yeah, i couldn't give a rats about this latest push by the MRAA. either way i dont think it'll really effect me, i wont give way to motorbikes on my pushy in my lane and i wont use the pushy lane on my motorbike (purely and simply because people in left lanes dont look before moving on over. i dont mind stacking the pushy, its a part of life, but dropping the motorbike is a different story altogether).
but theres no need to get all uppy on pushy riders and the 'easy ride' they get. just like you'd say to a cager about yourself "jump in our shoes for a while and THEN see what you think"
