I actually know for a fact that it was cheaper to buy a genuine ducati oil filter than 1 for my 10.

Much of a muchness. Who cares.

I just think Kawasaki has the sweetest sound and harleys the crappiest. Ducati is way out there with Harleys too :D.

In fact I put back my stock pipe last night... Niceee :o.

[quote="rocketrod"]Big deal, come back and tell us how its going when its done over 100k.I have had plenty of jap bikes with over that on then,no probs.quote]
I'M BACK
100k (and I mean 100,000 km too  ) No worries  Do you wont a photo as well ??? Mate if you have ridden plenty of jap bikes with more than 100k on them that is no big deal, NOW 100,000km is a bit different.

It is the rider maintenance not the bike that determines longevity.
Riders of Ducatis do not have to JUSTIFY buying their bikes any more than they have to apoligise for having a disposable income.
You are jealous, end of story

Most complaints (as per usual) comes from ppl that have never even RIDDEN one let alone owned one for a time....

100k is supposed to mean 100,000.I have no jelousy what so ever of ducati riders and have in fact ridden a few over the years. No i have never owned one and to be honest, have never had the desire to own one.
Nice looking bike,but overpriced i think.Recently rode a mates 999 up the reefton,nice bike to ride,good steering suspension,good brakes,probably the best twin i have ridden,but 30 grands worth,i dont think so.
Let face facts, most not all who buy ducatis buy for the pose value and not the performance value.Other people crow about resale value, yeah right because most for sale have pretty low kays on them because lets face it,who would pay good money for a duke with high kays on it?
I put them in the same catagory as harleys,as in overpriced for what they are.
Then lets look at their superbike record, yeah looks good on paper, but if the rules werent catered to for them they would not have been half as successful.Even now with everyone on a 1000cc the jap bikes are restricted in the inlet manifolds and if it wasnt for Bayliss they would be also rans. Now they are crowing that they want to run a 1200cc twin, give me a break.

Some would agree with this comment but the same could be said for many bikes.

Sold my F1 750 for $250.00 less than I paid for it to a dealer, 27,000 kms and 3 years later. Now if I could do that with my ZZR I could buy a 14???

You gets what you pay for.

the guy down my street who has a 916
which is noisy ..top(valves) and bottom (clutch)
which he considers normal.

that bike and the other cupla Ducs I have ridden (Monster, 906paso and ST4)
all were noisy....and no-one thought that unusual

guess its like the raspy intake noise Kwakas make... normal :D

cheers

Ducs have got one problem...too dear....Lucky I got an old one eh?

yeah they are like Hogs, make more from merchandising than sales of bikes.
Ride one for a week, not an hour. It takes that long to get out of the four pot way of riding... seriously.
Mind you I spose some ppl can jump off one to the other but it takes a different attitude. Jappas are getting there, prob best described as corner speed, but that doesnt do it justice.
Twins never seem to "feel" like they are going quick unitl you look at the speedo.

And yep if the japps released a $30K bike it would be just as excellent, no question about it. But they dont... YET. MV do a four pot as wicked as a twin and its worth .... hey the same price
