Real sports bike riders don't pillion

I guess that means if you ride a 12 or a 9 it's ok

With the right pillion - one who ISN'T an organic speed limiter, one who will tuck in, lean when you do and let you do your thing because YOU know your abilities and your bike's abilities and because they trust you, it's a great thing.

But in my experience, there aren't many like that. I've only taken 2 pillions like that. Well, maybe 3.

Though i always take it easier with a pillion because it DOES change the characteristics of the bike and it does mean that you're responsible for another person's safety.

At the end of the day, I'd probably prefer to take my pillion pegs off and leave my seat cowl on for my normal riding, but for a cruise or a short blat, it's great company...

The first time i took my girl for a ride it was a "for the hell of it" ride, she had an open mind and didn't mind having a punt on the back of the bike. Two things were learned that day. As per Neka & IK, she learned bikes go f*ing fast (i asked first before cracking the throttle & got the ok). I learned that my bike is uncomfortable for a pillion after about 45-50 minutes.

Would i take her on it again? yes, its a fun activity that we can enjoy together, and if done right, can cause minimal agony for the sucker, erm, girlfriend.

Back in my younger days, it was all about gettin chicks.

But now that I'm married Its different.
For the Sunday fang, its SOLO.
My wife loves gettin on the back for those weekend cruises
down the coast. She holds on ,tucks in and leans over, no problems.
The only thing is I get really sore holding the weight of 2 people on my wrists.
Thats what I get for riding a sports bike.

GF wont ride with me anymore cause she reckons i just spend the whole time lane splitting. Im kind of glad cause she is a shit pillion anyway.

it turns out that being punched in the back actually means slow down NOT go faster ;)

In my case it means 'go faster'! I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie on the bike. My good buddy that has pillioned me on occassion has had the VFR doing 180kmh two-up in the twisties with me on the back. It is the best feeling in the world- the pleasure of the bike without the stress of being in control. You can have a look at the scenery, check out the other bikes.... pillioning is good!
Although I wouldn't want to pillion all the time- the occassional pillion is fun.
