I think that you're best with something that doesn't refer to riding in general. I can't think of any motorcycle-related word that would appeal to both cruiser and sportbike riders.
Matali, as in Matali Crasset is a female French designer of some prominence. You sure you wanna go with that name?
Anything you think of, run through Google first. Also, write all possibilities down, then sit them aside for a week and come back to them. Things that sound great on the spur of the moment might sound corny or stupid on the second reading.
Wobbegong Gear - Dinstinctly Australian animal.
Shingle Back - There is a Shingleback winery, but if you split the word would it make a difference??? It sounds "protective".
Shield - Simple, safe.
Sheath - Hmmmmm.....
Freetail - It's a small, swift, insectivorous bat with leathery ears and a long tail.
Minke - As in the whale. I just like the sound of the word.
Leopard Leathers - Rolls off the tongue well.
Okay, I'm done.

Rigid Racing (RR)
Full Strike Leathers
Bright Edge Racing

As everyone has already said, its gonna come down to how well its marketed to the targeted population and of course the overall quality of the gear on offer etc.
Good luck

I knew a guy that when asked by his accountant what he wanted to call his company he said "Fucked if I know" so the accountant called it "FIIK" (that's F eye eye K ").
I knew another car mechanical workshop in Melbourne called "Rip off Motors".
I also tried to convince a guy that he should call his oil brand " 710 ". You'll understand why when you you look at the name upside down.
Just reading Richard Bransons book "Business stripped bare". Like him or loath him his companies certainly have done ok. He is really big into a brand meaning something and delivering on that promise. It doesn't matter what the brand is called, it doesn't have to say exactly what it is that your selling, but the name must 'mean' something to the people who you wish to sell to. That is, sell a concept and never fail to deliver that.
How about "Hard Core". "Gravel rash".
how about "Viagra Motorcycle Clothing" with the slogan...Our clothing stays harder longer
what about "Bullet" or "body armour".
Just another thing FWIW...have noticed that a few people like to wear "skins" under their leathers. Would be good to have a motorcycle branded equivalent. I intend to get some cause when I sweat at the track the leathers tend to stick to my skin making it harder to move plus get 'em off after every session.

I've sort of scanned a few through here.
Briefly..
Some good suggestions, I reckon.
BUT, (in my sometimes humble opinion)
I think a name has to be short and punchy.
Look at SIDI, SPYKE etc etc.
I had a couple of thoughts:
AXIOM, AXIS or ARC for racing stuff.
KICKSTAND for your cruiser line.
All royalties cheques can be made out to me and sent to :
c/o C.E.O.
Axiom Kickstand Leather Co.
hehehe

Being unique is the key to it! Simple, quick to say and a catchy punch line will get the name out there!
"LivInSkin" - "Natural Protection" or "Protects your Hide"
Rolls off the tongue, is appropriate to the materials being used and refers to something you would wear. Logo could include a Roo wearing a coloured set of leathers.
