I have a GSR Ibanez bass that has a buzz (string touching the next fret) on a few high notes on different strings that I am trying to loose without adjusting the
bridge screws too high but I cant get it quite right..... But its a cheep bass so I suppose It will be near impossible to tweak out.

I should have never sold my pride & joy ...1979 Ibanez Musician bass, it's worth a fortune now bloody motorcycles!, sold all my gear to get my first bike

Around what fret(s) are the buzzes?

How old are your strings? (are they still straight, bass strings can deform when played A LOT)

Then...

Below 14th fret or above 14?

Below or around 14 we'd look at truss rod first for relief. (If you don't understant be a good concept and skill to learn)

Above, your 2 courses of action are
1) the fret(s) have lifted -> hammer them down
2) the frets have always been this way -> Level them down.

So, wanna bring it in to your work and I'll finally drop around hey....

Yeah understand the above but don't want to stuff up having never had to do it before & yes it has always been like that & I just put it down to
not being set up correctly from the factory... I don't have it here so I cant tell you which frets but it is def above 14 & strings are about 10 playing hours old...I tend to be a bit stingy when it comes to replacing them....anyway we will sort out something I will PM next you week.
