But they still make the ZZR600, so that rules that argument out......

Well unless they have changed for 2006, but 2005 catalogue still has ZZR600's and they have ZX636R's

fabs down to 110kg's .............power to weight improving !

dearest hemi , have you met my mate darren on a orange & white track bike zx9 ? he knows you from qr. his bike is stock except for slicks & glass, you will notice that his times around qr are fairly respectable, he sorts out a lot of guys on current bikes.

so dont bag the 9's

Fabster, yeah I know Darren, top bloke and can ride faster than me for sure. I have been trying to talk him into racing. I wouldn't bag the 9s for real, I would love one for a road bike. And I hear that thing of yours is pretty full on, I know MadKaw cut some pretty slick laps around EC on it. I think it would take some doing to beat that, but hey, anything's worth a try huh?

I will tell you one thing though, I do think the R1 is faster. Give me a couple of trackdays at QR on it, and I reckon my far superior power to weight ratio will get me just in front of ya.

Please do not mis-interpret this as cocky-ness, it's just that I cannot imagine a Sports-Tourer keeping up with this thing. 8)  If it was up to me, it would be a 10R, but beggars cannot be choosers.

And MadKaw, surely if you did even half the mods to your Ten that were done to your Nine, the 10 would kill it huh?

I know one thing, I am going to miss that 7. A lot.

Fading away to a shadow a mere 110kgs my friend. You must be on the veges as well.

Darren is bloody quick ! Gives that 9 a hammering!

Drim(Hemi) ...if you can get the R1 dynoed as you may find that fab's 9 isnt lacking power compared to your R1.

I think the weight of the big boned lad is an advantage as i really think drim the R1 will just being trying to toss you over the bars.

A set of slicks, some suspension and gearing mods, some race glass and yep the 10 would be quicker...
Problem is, its worth to much to risk pushing it as hard as I did the 9...

well said fab, i thought this thread was for 9 owners to speak of their bikes, not for people who have never ridden one to start paying them out.

it doesnt matter to much about the bike unless you are a top line racer, like a grade.........the last year the 9 was in production - 03 - at masterbike, ken wootton lapped quicker on the 9 than the gsx-r and r1. whatever you may think of him he's pretty bloody quick and for some one of his skill level to go quicker on the 9 is saying something.

anyone remember the rides wayne maxwell had at the end of 02 or 03 :?: pulling out from the r1's slipstream down the main straight at the island, one of the fastest tracks in the country..........ah gotta love the 9

ah yes, I believe that was the support race at the 01 P.I. Gp...
That thing went damn well...

but it was a 972cc ZX9R..
Although it did only put out about 150hp...

02, 03 was the shock treatment team with Marty Atlee...

what sort of times did you do on Fab's 9 around the 'Creek Dave ?

:D

Fabs 9... hmm I spose it is.. I prefer Daves 9 that was given to Fab in exchange for cash.... :D
I did rebuild it from the ground up.. (mainly cause I buried it. )...

The quickest I got around the creek was 1:40.. did that a couple of times, 1:41 and 42 were the consistant laps... I really wanted to get sub 1:40 before I exchanged it for cash... but that wasn't to be... bloody 2nd kid came along... handbrakes.!!!.. :)

Haven't been to the track since...

1'40 is honkin' !! good stuff. The quickest FE bike I raced against was Simon Thomas on a CB1100R, with heaps of HRC gear on it. He could do consistent 1'40 - 1'41 all day on that rig  which is pretty good considering it is basically a 1981 motorcycle - He shat on the whole field back in 2001 !! The 'quick' group of about 5-6 were doing 1'45-1'48s, and then the next bunch (including me on the Z) were doing 1'50-1'55s. All I was missing to move into the mid-40's was 17's, slicks and a C/R box

I miss racing. :( It sounds like you miss that feeling as well........
