i'd say the pilot power 2CT's would be a waste of money for the road, as it seems like a more track oriented tyre than the regular power.
i chew my regular powers up on the sides, dont want em any softer.
besides, where can you constantly ride at max lean all day if its not a race track?

Thanks for the Reply Swabie. i liked the Pilot Race a whole lot but they dont last real long so a 2ct would be better option if it was available.

Same mate, I have the race's on atm, but..... yes wear is a bit ofa problem..... but i love the grip..........hmmmmmmm too much to think about!

OK, so i got the new M3's today.

107578 k's, lets see how they go. especially as the trip to the island is comming up.

probably wont get a chance to really push them on the way down, cant go my favourite route due to time constraints

OK, first impressions after riding to work this am

left home at 0700, very chilly, warmed up reasonably quick, still a bit slippery as they are new, seem to steer a little quicker.

road should be a little warmer on the way home see how they go then.

shaun went for a ride on his yesterday arvo and reported that felt pretty good to him too.

I am really interested in the feedback of these tyres. I am due for new tyres and I have to decide between Pilot Powers, Diablo Corsa (not III) or Metzeler M3. I really like the thread pattern on M3 but that means jack when it comes to grip.

Also someone said it has dual compound like 2CT. According to Metzeler website it has dual compound as in front and rears are a little different. I did not see anything about dual compound on same tyre.

no evidence on mine to indicate they are dual compound.

so far they seem pretty blolody good.

no evidence of nervousness over the bumpy roads i have been known to ride on.

grip has been fantastic, although the front tyre has a different profile to the ol M1, i doubt i'll be able to get as close to the edge on the new ones (then again i will be travelling the secret squirel roads soon ).

all the reports i have read indicates that they will last longer then the m1's - the rear has visible signs of wear after only 500 K's, lets see how they last.

all in all i'm pretty bloody happy.

So is the initial wear just from a spirited examination of the tyres' characteristics , or a sign of an early replacement Phil??????? Seriously, I am interested to know. I just put another set of Rennsports on the 9, (was wrapped to find a set still around) and will be seriously looking at a more mileage orientated tyre for summer usage on the rear.

Maybe black ninja can shed a bit more light on ks as his were fitted back in june and sunny gold coast he should have clocked up a few ks by now.

Yes I intend err.......a spirited examination of the new Metzler Rennsports I just had fitted to the 9, myself next week Phil. Kinda glad I couldn't get it registered any sooner, as the weather is shitty here in Melbourne till at least Saturday, then I have to go to a wedding on Saturday, and pick up a bike on the other side of town for a mate on Sunday morning. So I would have ended up doing something stupid like I usually do, and go scrub the tyres in in the torrential rain. (thats what happened a few sets ago) Blessing in disguise as they say! But I am looking forward to re-reading my excited rants once I get off it from the first days ride. Which all things being equal, will be tuesday if the weather is fine, if not, then probably fathers day with Maty in south gippy!!!

I know we're suppossed to take the magazine reviews with a grain of salt but motorcycle daily article says:

During a brief stop to allow the group to, well, regroup, I took the opportunity to look the tires over. A thin strip of the front tire tread was untouched with the rear fully scuffed in, but they looked like they had only done a couple laps in a parking lot, despite deliberately aggressive use of the ZX-6R's throttle and front brake during the last 30 miles.

After about 130 miles on the track the tires looked remarkably unscathed, like they had just done a moderate pace on a canyon road. M-3s on the liter bikes displayed a little rougher texture, but still looked much better than the Pilot Sports we pulled off the ZX, which had just done a trackday prior to us receiving the bike from Kawasaki (they would typically have replaced the tires before giving us the bike, but as this unit was requested specifically for the Metzeler tire test, we told them not to worry about it). This observation seems to support Metzeler's claims of 50% better wear compared to the M-1. Riders who measure how hard they are riding by how chewed up the tire looks will experience some frustration over the M-3. After approximately 1000 miles, no change in the profile of the front or rear tire was observed, but we had to return the ZX to Kawasaki - with the M-3s, and so hopefully we'll be able to source another set for long term endurance testing, and likely some wet weather riding.
