Shannons cover $1k per piece of gear up to $3000 which is pretty good. They only do occasional use though so that's not much help.

I had some gear pinched from my house when we got broken in to and had it replaced under my contents policy

They also informed me that if the bike is written off and I want to buy it back, I have to go to auction and bid on it.
Mick the bike is really yours .......... they in an event of an accident only pay for repairs to the bike
if they want to keep the bike they need to replace it

happened to a mate and his car
umm thats what "write off" pay out is all about mate...
if they pay u out $12k for example, the bike is then legally theirs to auction off...

Bummer Mike,
i told QBE to take a flying f*ck today, I was paying $1290 a year with them fully comp, got my renewal and on an 05 636 they covered it to the value of $8500, and that was including the aftermarket pipe!!!!

I went with AAMI, ended up costing me $1335 a year fully comp but is agreed value of $14800, plus replacment cost of any gear (new for old) and I have lifetime rating 1. I had the Car with QBE, so they lost that too and AAMI got it.

When I get back on the road I'll be looking at AAMI & RACV then. Could work out well if they write it off - the insurance and rego are up for renewal on the 20th and I've seen a couple of ZX9s for a reasonalbe price :)

I am with NRMA for the bike. Jsut over $500 a year for fully comp and that includes helmet up to $500 worth.

We also have our car with them. They seem good on claims. We had to claim a new windscreen in the car (crack, not completely broken) and it was repaired less than 12hrs after I called them (called at about 10.30pm, repaired at 8am). Pretty good I thought.

Mike, try ringing your home contents insurer and see what they have to say about replacing your gear.
