Re: [UPDATED] Apparently my bike is/isn't/is/isn't a write off

So yesterday, the insurer tells me again that it's written off and confirms that I should not be riding my bike
And today it's NOT written off again - it's going to be repaired.

I feel like a yo-yo. More details on what happened in the original post.

That's why I was worried - this weekend is the Oxley run!
I didn't want to do the Oxley on a bike I technically didn't own anymore, as it was written off. I also didn't really want to do the Oxley as the support vehicle, in a car. And I needed an answer today, as there was a bike I was going to test ride and buy if Genki was written off, and I was hoping to get that before the weekend so I could get acquainted with it on the Oxley run.
I guess admin screw ups can happen any time, but I'm really happy I kept pushing, as I was ready to accept that it was a write-off and just buy this other bike. Imagine if I dropped 10K - 12K on another bike, expecting a cheque from the insurer, only to be told that the cheque wasn't coming - my bike was going to be repaired! Then I'd have two roadies and an annoyed Minister of Finance

So the point of Cath's story is don't use her insurance company ;)

Oh and hope they sort this mess out for you Cath, they sound like a pack of morons.

hahaha - hopefully there's nothing more to keep posted about, apart from "She's been fixed"

I actually would use their insurance again - an admin error can happen to anyone and I don't think it's indicative of a bad company. I'm just happy I have a *great* repairer who is willing to go the extra bit for me, and an agreeable assessor - that made it easier to sort everything out. I will be giving the repairer a big thumbs-up once the bike is sorted too

How long is it going to take to get repaired? Or are you just going to ride her to Gingers then get her fixed when you get back?

You 2 will be carving up the old road again soon. :D

Hi Cath

Just something else to be aware of if your not already, if the insurence company has "written" it off they will have also cancelled the rego, this happened with my car after the x-mas hail storm a couple of years ago and turn my car into a golf ball. After they wrote it off they cancelled the rego and didn't let me know, so I was driving around for 2 weeks while I was waiting for a payout, it only once I received the payout that they told me I would have to go to the RTA and get it re-rego'ed.
So just be carefull, the last thing you want or need on top of all of this is to get done for an unregisiered bike!

It will be fixed after the Gingers run - I'll just ride it as is.

Yeah Mick, that's what I figured - TWO wrong assessments!
And I'd decided to buy a titanium crim too! So close, but obviously it's not to be 8)

Good point Frank - thanks for that! I will double-check that before this weekend
