Very nice indeed Gos, nice score mate.
I was watching it as I'm sure a lot of people were too and wondered if it went to a good home on here and I don't think it could've gone to a better one.
No doubt you've seen this one as well, but just in case you haven't, here's another for you that you could add to your collection.

I had a look at that H2 this arvo, but it has already been taken off ebay....
Riding this little jigger around (the S1) is giving me conniptions for its big bro sitting in the workshop.......

Re: The new addition - Period 4 - S1 250 triple !!
Got a funny story to share about the juniorberger triple.........or *Little Lucifer* as it has now been christened !!
Took it out to a local shop on Sunday - the guy there is a supporter of CanberraRIDERS - and he put on a bbq for us on Sunday, as well as $35 dyno runs for the forum.......same thing Tex did for KSRC a couple of years ago.
Anyway, I booked the 250/3 and the Black Pearl in for some runs.....
well, Little Lucifer did some interesting things to the 21st-century dyno and all its associated electrics !
Here is a direct quote from the owner......
When we were all sitting in the front area of the shop, looking at the TV screens with the dyno room on one, and the dyno charts on the other - we could see lots of action on the computer, but not much on the dyno.....the 250 was kicked over a few times, then stopped.......heads being scratched.........apparently the USB hub was shitting itself.....Brett (owner) was getting all sorts of weird error messages on his computer......temperature variations in the dyno room from +14deg to -8deg in the blink of an eye
dyno temp too cold - that sort of stuff.....
Well, they cranked up the 250 a couple of times, and the blue haze in the room looked great from where we were sitting
- mmmm pre-mix R30 goodness.......anyway, after 1 good run on the dyno, Brett pulled the pin......and the jokes about the little 250 breaking his dyno were being cracked everywhere - it was pretty funny out the front - but we had no idea how close to the truth this was !!!!
Brett described the temperature sensor going haywire, amongst other issues - but when he got the message on the computer that said *Error - Dyno drum* - he thought the day was finished !!
All this caused by the 3 little sets of points going apeshit at 9000rpm !! well all your new-age computer gadgetry just took a massive shit at the amount of unshielded electrical interference pouring out of the 250's engine cases.......
Here is the dyno chart. That power curve is starting at around the 4-4.5k rpm mark, not much happens below that....

Brett reckons that a second run would have shown at least 27hp. Not bad from a bike that is almost 40 years old.......stock hp figures were 28 or 32, depending on which manual you are looking at. They were crank figures as well...
So there you go - Little Lucifer ( or as Brett called it - the devil bike) - almost fried $10k worth of dyno with its *massive* 26hp !!
I so can't wait to get this bike out racing later this year - it is heaps of fun to ride.

We have now been made aware that the radio waves that were tampering with our dyno from the unshielded ignition system on Gos's old gem can actually spike the computer/hardware stack on the dyno which costs in excess of a big $10,000 dollars
We have equipment in the workshop to test future older bikes with unshielded ignition systems before they go onto the dyno... Sorry folks but not worth the $10,000 dollar risk...
Other than that little hickup we hope to see you all at our future dyno days and events.....

The trick, as has often been said, is to not specify WHICH Christmas.laidback wrote:I've heard that before...Gosling1 wrote:the Big Bro.....hmmm it'll be going by Xmas !!

Re: The new addition - Period 4 - S1 250 triple !!
OK, time to get back on track with this little jigger, and leave the speculation about which Xmas its bigger brother will be ready by - for another time.
Had a bit of a splurge on ebay last week - thanks to those punters from a few different forums including here, who spotted these items advertised in Sydney. Did the last-second swoop - and landed some great parts for the S1 !
3 sets of barrels & cylinder heads. All in excellent condition - $52.
1 complete bottom end, missing engine sidecovers. Rotates freely, minimal rust - $103.
So for the princely total of $155, an almost-complete spare motor for the S1 ...... very happy with that.
Not a good day for riding today, but a good day for an early-morning hit & run sprint to Illawong and back.....here are the goodies !
3 x barrels. Very minor surface rust only in 1 small spot in 1 barrell ! Happy with that....

Spare barrel - looks like it has been dropped at some point, and has damaged the intake stud. Easy fix.

3 sets of cylinder heads. All in great nick, combustions chambers undamaged !

Barrels & heads together. Just like a 750, except 1/3 of the size.....

Spare set of crankcases. All bearing surfaces in good nick.

And last but not least - the complete bottom end.

Old mate up in Sydney had some exhaust gaskets, a spare clutch and oil-pump cover and that spare set of cases, which I got for $45. So for a measly spend of $200 - all this needs is a set of pistons. Very happy with this, as it will allow me to build *this* motor as the race motor for P4, and leave the original motor alone and running sweetly.
Happy days.....

Re: The new addition - Period 4 - S1 250 triple !!
totally.....these bits are hard enough to find anyway, so getting them for $200 is an added bonus......
I have also started getting all the bits needed for a 350 conversion - set of heads from US ebay a couple of months ago, I thikn they were $80 posted here ? All I have to find now is a set of barrels - or even another set of 250 barrels and just bore them out.......a set of pistons from old mate in NZ......and a 350 motor is not that far away at all....
