yeah but if they were driving an unregistered vehicle, they are liable for the costs, so i'd say TAC would cover, but TAC would take it too them for the costs, if no one else would.

I believe this is so
the TAC act like a normal insurer..cover you as you paid the TAC fee
with your reg, but go the other guy for costs if they are unregistered...

Not only is the car unreg and uninsured she was unlicenced ..The TAc IS NO FAULT ... paid in your own registration if not registered you cannot apply to TAC so if you crash or passenger severly injured you cannot claim under TAC if not registered..

so if a vehicle unreg hits reg vehicle, the reg driver is covered.. onus is on individual to contact TAC and ambulance even if member does not cover you , thus you need to claim accident under TAC ... to cover you from scene by ambos

Apparently more info to follow in September, but cops are going for costs and it may be drawn out...

I'd hadmy crummydoor (now sold, YAY!) for a week, and had insurance for 2 days when an uninsured driver hit it. Nothing anywhere as severe as Mario's dilema (the girl stoped and left her details). It was all covered under a clause in my insurance (I had fire and theft) concerning uninsured vehicles, but I still had to pay $700 excess. I did eventually get this back though (10 months later) when the other driver finished paying off the insurance company.
