Josh Brookes Report From Silverstone
Today
50 Kaliber for Joshua Brookes
Josh Brookes completed his first SBK event in Silverstone with a great deal of insights into how to improve the Kawasaki Bertocchi Ninja ZX10R for the next round at Misano on the 25th of June.

After retiring in race one with an electrical problem, Josh finished race two in 18th place and managed to set consistent 1:28 laps for the entire race. With a massive amount of work to be done on all areas of the bike with the Team, Josh is confident of improving his results.

“Our biggest enemy this weekend was time. With most of the guys out there having ridden their bikes for at least the last 6 months, I just needed more time to go through the numerous options out there to make the bike faster. The Team were fantastic as usual, and the bike definitely has pace. The most heartening thing for me though is the level of improvement still left in the bike. Race 1 was pretty exciting. One minute I was entering turn 1, and then next minute a bike was on fire and riders were down everywhere. I saw Barros jump his flaming bike out of the corner of my eye – what a move! He’s in the wrong sport! It ended a disappointing race though because the bike developed an electrical problem that robbed me of power, but my set up was not good anyway because of the rain and interruptions during the practice sessions all weekend, so I focused on race 2 to try and firstly finish, and secondly shoot for points. It sounds lame to say 18th was not a bad result, but it’s the truth given what we know, and how much time we’ve had working the bike. I am very realistic about the level of competition in SBK and I’m here to tell you, it’s a bloody tough. Lots of very good riders and lots of very good teams. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. But I know that my Team is up to the challenge, as I am and Misano will be another improvement and another step up the ladder. Overall, I absolutely loved my first experience in SBK. ”

Josh will test shortly with the Team and look to put in as many laps as possible to improve all areas of the ZX10R, before returning to Australia for a short break.
