Is it possible to do something like this... Have you ever done it? Where do you go to get decals made? Is it expensive?
(It would look better in real life)...

Any sign writer should be able to cut them out for you mate. At a guess i'd say you should be able to get them cut and put on for around about $400-$500 max. Get them to put them on as they have all the inside info to get them on straight and looking smick.

Correct stace & done in vinyl you can always pull it off if you want to sell as original
We do this sort of stuff all the time & the cost would be about $500

Do you think if I took an image like that in they would be able to do it? Or would they need more info?

Are there any hints and tips as to purchasing these? Are there particular things I should avoid? are there things that will make it look better that dont cost much? Do you guys call them decals or stickers?

No real hints mate this is a fairly simple ask of a genuine sign company.
You could possibly get vinyl with different colours / effects but will add cost
Check with the sign shop they will have charts of different vinyls
We would call this cut vinyl ...make sure they use cast vinyl as it will conform to the shape better.

Just go to a sign writer who does vinyl lettering ect. Show him the pic and he will be able to give you a price on the spot as well as show you the available colors weather staright black or speckle ETC. He will more than likely be able to help you out with some ideas to improve your original idea. Food for thought.

Eelko, give my mate Steve a buzz, he did the KSRC Banner and Simmo's race glass.
Send him an email with pic.
steve@signfx.com.au or I suppose ring him first 1300SIGNFX or 03 9357 0357
Tell him you are from KSRC and I Mick sent you. One of the boys there will tell you if it can be done properly, If he doesn't want to do it he'll tell ya...
cheers
