Here's my issue with people studying "art".

If you learn to paint, draw, create ice cream stick sculptures by using the techniques that someone else has walked you through, who is really the artist? Is it your art, or theirs?

Sure, there are techniques you can learn. You can have someone show you what they perceive you are doing wrong. But it's their opinion that you are wrong.

Art is all about emotion. From landscapes, to portraits, to abstract. If the resultant art reflects how you feel, then it's right. If it doesn't, then it's wrong.

I think sometimes people try to hard. People try and create art based on what they believe others want to see. Others try and create art based on what they think others don't want to see. The end result is normally the same. Dreadful crap.

Create what you want, create it for your reasons. That is art.

im 100% with u there , its just sence iv been at tafe im getting to learn u have to do what they want to get through , but i cant do it , my rt work is about my life and the way i look at things , and showing the viewer how i feel when i do things .

the first one was my anxsiety about going to tafe and being ina new place ( townsville )

the second was about showing cage drivvers what it feels like to ride a motorike ( although they thought it looked like a robotic frog )

the third is about ressing diffrent and being Crusified for it , and the third is my statement against comercial art ( art for arts sake ) the purple reprasents money and is running off the page to show that money will not really get u anywere , althought its in the shape of trangles ( a very stronge shape) beause its a structured part of society and the white tunnel type thing is about how it drags us down :)

I love my arty farty jubberish :P

well to be honest, i do like the first picture the most. gives an impression of forboding & something dark. Kinda the impression you were trying to get across anyway.

Remember to suffer for your art, as long as it's what the art teacher says!!!!

If you learn to paint, draw, create ice cream stick penis's by using the techniques that neka has walked you through, who is really the bigger dickhead? Is it you, or him?

Sure, there are techniques you can learn. You can have Greg show you how he and Stace are getting upto on a Saturday night. And who are we to comment about the lack of girth, or the flatness of the ocean, is it wrong of them to invite that miget lady over? Who are we to judge Greg really?

Farts are all about emotion and relief. From out side in the landscapes, to lanes of your local safeway Duane will drop one where he can, and where he can he'll drop many more. If the resulting fart makes you feel.... sick then it's right of you tel tell him so, or return the favour.

I think sometimes people try to hard and this produces the Shart. Not quite a shit, not quite a fart. Some people try and create flames based on what they have seen others do. Others try just require a tug on the finger to let their artistic flair flow. The end result is normally shame, and the odd dreadful crap.

Fart where you want, create it for your reasons.

Is that your issue or did you read about someone having the same issue and decide that you felt the same?

well, i studied art for my whole high school jail sentence.

basically, chicky this work is good, and yes you do need to do what the teacher wants to get through and pass the course. but honestly the teachers are all failed artists who spent to much time trying tto study everyone elses work that focus on their own.

my hsc piece never got submitted due to me being sick, but was finished. my teacher still marked it and wow i was shocked, as it was totally unconventional, and used all new techniques, compared to what we had studied. then again showing how much pain being a dancer isnt that hard.

the use of light and shade in your art is good.

what medium where you using?

i found charcol was the best to use to show anguish and fear, as it is easily shaded and can be used to give definition.

keep up the good work chicky.
your very brave showing us something so personal.
