Q re: lateral movement of throttle grip

Got a question regarding the lateral 'play' in the throttle grip.
I got my baby serviced, and it came back with about a 7mm 'slide' or play laterally on the throttle grip, and also about the same vertically.
It means when you go to de/accelerate, or around a corner, my hand moves just that little fraction, enough to give me the heebies.
Does anyone else have that movement, or is it simply a loose nut?

There is supposed to be a small amount of play (1/8" ?) in the throttle cable to allow for bumps etc, but not what you have by the description.
A lot of OME throttle mounts have a small plastic pin that "locates" the throttle assembly on the bars (normally in the wrong spot unless you are touring too and if this was broken in reassembly (or not put in the hole in hte bar end) then it can also lead to a loose throttle assembly as they tightened it on the pin instead of the body of the assembly..
SOunds like it is loose (why who knows?) by all means tighten so the whole assembly does not move, cant hurt, just see if you get any movement out of the entire assembly first, if it all twists wiggle it a bit to see if the pin will drop in the hole, if not pull it off and have a good look first as you might break something that is not supposed to be where it is at the mo'.

Every bike I've had so far has a channel on the inside end of the throttle grip that is supposed to run inside of the switch block - should be no sideways movement at all! Investigate immediately as you are probably relying on the bar end weight to hold your throttle on! Not to mention the midcorner brown undies moments you are sure to have...

hmm, id check if they took the switchblock apart or not / if they took the barweights off or not. Failing that, i'd be checking for damage in the general area.

Not sure how the 636 is set up, but if it's anything like the picture, it'll be loose or busted. If it's broken it will be pretty obvious.
In the attached pic, the throttle cable/grip doesn't go into the switchblock, and can be moved up or down the bar to taste with no locating pins.
