well heres a good one for me... remebering theres 5 yrs of development between these 2 bikes...
cbr- its a honda (these guys bag em, but its got sum strong points)
frames are tuff
motors are tuff
gearboxes arent bad (prob not as tuff as kwakas..or motors)
handling is a treat
EFI
brakes
i rode the 01 zx9r and i then rode a 00 cbr (929) which i bought... the 954 is a slightly better bike in most opinions as its a little bit sharper...
the hondas are a bit lighter, handle a bit quicker, have a few more HP, and i reckon the brakes are a tad stronger....
the kwaka boys will tell u all abt 98 zx9rs...Phil will tell u ALL abt that model...
if u were tossing up the zx10 and the 954..id be more tempted to say 10...
have u ridden both?? what kinda km on each?? how much??
need more info to deduct which is the best buy...

already own the zx9r has 41000kms on it
the cbr has 8000kms on it
i wont tell you the price of the cbr because youll say whats wrong with it
but i know the guy was with him when he bought it and hes desperate for cash. all ill say is i can sell the zx9r and cover the price of the fireblade
taking the blade for a ride tommorow just to be 100% before i give him the cash.

what a complete load of codswallop.....
would YOU like me to prove that a 00 model 9, 6 hp down on the 98 model scored more HP than a 929 blade - your former housemate didnt believe me untill i showed him the magazine with the test and dyno graph.......
if you were talking about "claimed" hp thats another story.
the 9 is the best bike in the world, do i really need to say more

Bro, they've both got more power than U can use on the roads.. so
thats not the issue.
I'd go the newer bike anyday. If ya like it, you'd be mad to pass it
up.

Too be fair you can't go wrong with either scoot if you get a good'un.
The 98 9r was a corker as was the 954.
9r will be heaps more forgiving & WAY more comfy.
954 will resell much better & has a better gearbox & bigger brakes.
Investment wise go "Gayblading" going fast over distance stay wiith the 9

You'd be doing well to ride as slow as Phil, Squishy

Treat them right they can go for a bloody long time even being riden as manufacturer intended.

Managing to wreck a clutch in a matter of months is not a sign that you should slow down your riding style...
...it's a sign you should develop one.

The problem was they were starting to slip ages ago & I neva
did anything; so they got worse until they were completely fucked..
Got aftermarket heavy duty fuckers put in there so bike is pulling
nice & hard again

The LAST 9 was 2002.
Wake up and smell the shit guys.
I like to think my bike is best too but REALITY is a bit harsher.
Unless something untoward has happened to the new one (like being flogged by ppl that cant use clutchs

) you should take the 5 year newer one.
Unless it is a Harley in which case it will still be based in the 50's..
