Well the saga continues, go out to my bike tongiht and kicks over fine but won't ACTUALLY start.... with some help frm Slow & Wobbly have managed to eliminate the coil strips and the reg/rec from the equation. Bloke at work seems to think it's a fuel prob as you can smell fuel but if that's the case why then did it start first time on a push start?

This thing has been to the auto sparkies twice now and they can't find anything wrong with it. Now have a dodgy looking switch added to the bike that basically eliminates side stand switch and it seems not much else.

Have been to find a part already for a quote on another CDI but I guess the question that needs answering is that likely to resolve the problem? As it stands now I can't really take the bastard anywhere much less touring on it which is sort of the original aim of the purchase, ideas appreciated pps.

Cough up for a new CDI. Seems like too many problems are occurring that all have that involved in one way shape or another. Or better yet, speak to Saki, and see if he wants to sell you his second hand one.

Chuck a new set of plugs in. Betcha that fixes it!

Bonester has a new set of plugs.. and Beno have enquirieds going about anew cdi too

If even new plugs get wet with fuel they can stuff up. Rip em out and have a look and replace coz they aren't dear and you can exclude them if it still doesn't start.

Hey Mick, I'm in Mt. Waverley, I've got a spare CDI, Fuse/junction box, rec/reg, etc, plus all the bits that are currently on my racebike, You're welcome to borrow any of the bits or bring your bike over & swap stuff around if that helps with the process of elimination.

Thanks Kwak, wish I could get access to this site at work Ordered a used CDI today for $158 posted so see if that eliminates anything. Already eliminated coil strips and reg rec thanks to S&W so CDI was next thing on the list.

Talked to auto sparkies they reckon it might be carb icing, frankly I reckon that's a croc but we'll see if the CDI resolves anything I guess.

Carbs ice when fuel is passing through them mick. Not when trying to start the bugger.

After all the pissing around, what condition is the battery in? If it wouldn't start but turned over, then went on push start, is possible it didn't have enough juice for both?

Give it a charge for when the new CDI turns up, just to eliminate it.

it might not be holding the charge tho mate....

Mick its a five minute job. Use the key to unlock the passenger seat. Undo the 10mm(?) bolt that holds the clasp down on the back of the rider seat. Lift rider seat from rear and there it is! Remove the old one from its rubber holder and unplug it. Reverse the procedure and be on your way.

Well no cdi today so tomorrow I ride in and hopefully do the swap over, bloke at work is offering to lend a hand if I need it but sounds like it's plug and play
