I have a Triumph oil filter which is the same physical size & thread as the ER-6 filter. Q - are they interchangeable or is there something inside that is different ?

My ZX9 03 model had a Trumpy oil filter on it when I bought it. Changed to a Kawaka one when I did an oil change,but they were exactly the same.
Cant see a problem if it fits.

shouldnt be to much different though if u get it serviced at a dealer i wouldnt do it cause if someting goes wrong they will pont to that as the fault, there should be a pressure that allows oil to travel through the oil filter so long as there the same it should be ok im no mechanic so dont hold me to it only a hydraulic/maintenance fitter hehe

I have a yamaha filter on my zx9, the brand name on the filter doesn't matter a jot, a fair percentage of OEM branded filters are made by the same company anyway, as long as the seal is in the right place and the right size, the thread is right, and it fits, you should be right. The only internal differences inside will be filter media (not that important really) Anti-drain back valve, and mesh size. Being that it is a branded filter and not some chinese bit of shit, you should be right.

& yes they are interchangable If they are the same size & thread as above

Mates wife traded up from 600 TT to a 750 Breva - I got some of the leftovers

100% agreed. I work in warranty dept for a manufactuer - had a $22k engine claim returned with a Ryco filter on it instead of approved OEM one, there was other suspicious things about the claim but the ryco sealed the deal - bye-bye claim!

Point taken - but are oil filters different internally ?

there wont be much difference if its good enough for triumph then shouldnt harm a kawa ay? id use it just be shore it dun leak and your oil pressure light goes out and should be sweet

they can be yes, but shouldn't really be different enough to matter, you should be fine using them.

Just like was said above - if you ever bring it in for engine warranty to a dealer .. change it first thats all, it's best not to let them have that edge over you.

Ie. If your going to be shifty thats fine just be good at it
