spedometer question

hey my zx2r was have high revs problems (wouldnt rev past 16,000) and i have figured out its cause i removed the spedometer, i removed it cause its my race bike.
it has a wiring loom with 3 wires goin to the spedo, and i think it goes to the cdi?,
so my question has anyone come across this on another model and how did they get by this, only thing i can think is i have to bridge some of the wires but i dont want to do the wrong ones and fry my wiring harness or completly mess things up
oh and on other models has removing the spedo altered anything?
