hi guys

have got a prob with my gpx 250

the problem is my tacho.

the revs normaly sit at just under 5000 rpms at 60k's in 6th gear but last weekend i went for a blat with richo down to brooky , and on the way back up towards the pie when you hit that 60k's section just after the pie i looked down at the tacho and the revs were siting around 12000 rpms and i nearly shit because it normaly sits as i said at just under 5000 at 60k;s in 6th gear.

would love to know what the prob is, or what could be wrong or weather im up for a new instrument pannel.

any feedback would be great .

Did the revs rise without road speed increasing ? - could be clutch slip

Get a couple of banana paddle pops .... save the sticks . .

Attach the sticks to the hub on the front wheel so the tips of the sticks "click" on the spokes as the wheel turns . .

Then, go buy a digital sound reciever that you can hook up to to an LCD display ... duct tape it to ya handle bars .. and voila! ..

Instant tacho . .

i was in 6th gear but the actual revs sounded normal at that speed, and i wasnt loosing any acceleration.

all is good

sorted the prob out .
Pulled the front of the bike apart and dismantled the instruments pannel ,
got out the tacho unit & pulled it apart, gave it a blow out and put it back together.
Started the bike after all that and the tacho was back to normal.

so im glad i didnt have to replace it

yeah this used to happen to my ole GPX250 alot, dirty/shitty/loose/dead connections. nearly every electrical connection in that bike was the same, indicators, ignition barrel (had to jiggle it to get it to come on), ignition switch etc.
