I haven't got a ZX7, but isn't it going to have a sight window to check the oil level?

OK - its a sight glass. A window would be a trifle excessive, and subject to stone damage. Words don't always work so well for me
Anyway, keep the oil level between the high and low marks next to the window.

I upgraded mine with a starboard one as well!!
Jaye you will find a round sight glass in the R/H casing below the oil filler plug (see other thread re Motul 5100 black for a good pic)
Make sure the bike is upright on level ground when you check it.

If you havent changed your oil and you've done well over 5K kays, perhaps time to change your oil and filter.
Might also be a good chance to check your headlight fluid while you're at it.

You also have to be on a level ground and have the bike Upright not on it's stand while you check the oil glass

While we are talking oil . . . if you don't know what oil is currently in your bike . . . . and before you harass me bout oil changes lol, I'm referring as in, I've just bought a bike and don't know what oil was used previously. However, I do know that it was changed recently tho, so it's not like it needs an oil n filter change.
Just curious - do you see any issue with topping up the oil with the Motul 5100 that I've already got, despite not knowing what oil is in it ?

I don't think it's to bad if your just topping up Robyn. Most ppl use semi syn. anyway unless they race
BUT me personally I would just change the oil again to be on the safe side
