Real riding....

Hi all, I was down at Southbank last night with my brother and noticed about four bikes parked on the water's edge with their owners close by having a smoke. I was there for about 40 minutes and while I watched, about 10 more bikes rolled up, parked and joined the other four sitting down. A couple of them came over to where we were and ordered some beers and I asked them if they were with a club. They were all MRA (Motorcycle Riders Association). Now, in case anyone on here's a member, I'm not trying to be nasty - but you call that a group ride?? They came from all over the city to converge on Southbank, sit down and have a smoke, chat then go back home.....Just makes you appreciate what we've got here! Glad we're KSRC - not KSCC (Kawasaki Sportsbike Chat Club)....

sorry touchy subject the bike that meet down at southbank on a friday night is not organised by the morons of the MRAA, nor is it or will it ever be associated with such a pathetic association!

The friday coffee nights were started by 3 of us about 2 years back who owned Across's since then we have invited literally all internet bike forums down there.

The idea is no idiot clubing, no politics just to meet talk rubish and drink coffee.

I didn't go last night, but suspect Bobbi and bro were a too little early to see the full brunt of bikes that get down there. I think the numbers max out between 7-8pm.

Its not supposed to be a ride, just a good central coffee spot for bikers to meet and talk shit about bikes. Sometimes gets used as a central take off point for rides though on weekend mornings.

I go there most Fridays in good weather.

Yep, we were there between 5 & 6pm. It looked like they were settling in, so I probably only saw the earlybirds.

So is this a formalised thing, or it just came about through word of mouth and isn't restricted to a particular club or group?

Just wasn't sure if they were the same group. They were sitting by the water i.e not having coffee, and weren't at a cafe/restaurant, just sitting around talking. Didn't look formal that's all (and the guys I spoke to said they were MRA).

yeah i get a bit shirty around those idjits, they attempt to drag there bullmanure into a social gathering.
Nah everyones welcome, come on down one night look for me or groberts03 and we'll introduce you around, unfortunately most of them own wannabe bikes and suffer severe jealousy that they cannot handle the power of a Kawasaki! :D

All shit aside, its just a coffee meet where riders can meet other riders.

It happens every Friday night, rain, hail or shine, and anyone is welcome to go. Think the minimum that's ever been there on a winter's Fri was 6.

Come down one night and check it out, and you'll see! :)
