Owen
just translated part of the kawasaki japan website...
POWER UNIT
Control of fine fuel supply becomes possible due to the adoption of fuel injection & fuel injection, over all the rotary areas, drivability improves.

hi Owen,
How's your French?

It is EFI with an exhaust valve before the can, but the peak power maybe down. The chassis is suppose to be all new and the gearbox is from the ZZR1200, so should be slicker. The UK stopped importing the ZRX1200R at the end of 2006. I am hopefully coming over to Oz but will have to sell my ZRX1200R as I have not owned it a year before I come over

I thought that was it for the ZXR in 09, they were going to stop making them.
I could be wrong.

They are something like 36kg heavier with less power than the current ZRX. The wheels don't suit a retro bike. I'm keeping my 'old' carby ZRX.

*AND* they put the crappy brakes off the ZZR1200 on too. Far out!

I suppose it is like the 03-06 Z1000 that lost power and gained some serious weight when the 07 1000cc model came out... I would imagine the 'fun Police' came around and the Japs have to meet the increasing tough noise and emissions regulations

I'm with you mate. I think it's lost something - Even if it came here I'd be keeping my 2005. There's something a bit more muscular about it.

The ZRX will no longer be available in Australia anymore. This model for Japan only.
Why would you want this under powered over weight ZRX anyway...might look good but that's it.

I hope they bring it out. I could do with another Rex in the Shed and I can always put it on a diet and fiddle with the mapping to get it where it should be!!!

Plus, it looks as hot as the current Rex. But of course would look better in an ELR colour scheme!!!

Can't see it being 36kg heavier

, maybe that is the Kerb weight, not the dry weight.
As far as the EFI goes, I am well over the carb removal ordeal on the Rex, at least when you still have an airbox as I do. Remapping EFI would be just a tad easier.
Personally I think that Black model looks very classy, compared to all the common or garden green variety

That Black sucker looks pretty good, but where did the extra weight come from? I bought a new one in mid December. The local dealer tried to order one as soon as delivery of the one I ended up buying was confirmed (he has been doing that since he has been in business, always has one one the way or on the floor). He said they told him they didn't have anymore and were not ordering the new model. Bugger. It made me get my money out quick smart though.
