The Hungarian MotoGP at the Balatonring is cancelled for 2009. Hungarian Development Minister Tamás Suchman yesterday told Hungarian press agency that because the Spanish investors had missed the deadline by which they should have submitted a credit application required to help finance the circuit, the Hungarian GP will not take place at Sávoly, where the Balatonring is to be built, in 2009, but may be offered in the Spring of 2010.

Following consultation with the FIM, the scheduled 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix has been removed from the MotoGP World Championship calendar. The request to postpone the inaugural race at the Balatonring circuit until 2010, owing to the delay in construction of the track, was accepted by the FIM.

There are no plans to replace the race with another Grand Prix event, reducing the calendar for the year to seventeen rounds.

I was reading that this morning. Surely to hold a race you would first need a track. Simple solution is to run the race at Eastern Creek. I know they are in Europe at the time but the riders would like a trip down under. :kuda:
