tightening oil filter

ok i too have left getting prepared for the track day to the last minute. i changed the oil yesterday and had heaps of trouble getting the oil filter off (it was tight as).
my question is i have the new filter on and the manual says to tighten 3/4 of a turn after gasket mates. so i have got it just past half a turn and buggered if i can find a way to get it any tighter. i have run the bike with the new oil and it is not leaking. is it tight enough?? and is it likely to come loose. i do want to damage the new filter at this late stage by trying to get it to tight.

I have always done up my filters as tight as I can one handed, within reason, and have never had any dramas. If it's not leaking that sounds tight enough to me.

Yep, tight enough.
I generally give it a good god with my hands...and that's tight enough for me.

Does the 9r have a locking clip on the oil filter like a 6r does? If it does then half a turn would be plenty.

Hand tight is fine.
Though you can get K&N filters that have a hex-head on the top, which can make for very easy installation and removal.

I refuse to buy one of those special oil filter removal tools. So I either use a huge screwdriver, which I punch threw the filter, or a big pair of locking pliers.
When I do it up, I fill the filter with oil and only ever do it up by hand.

If you buy a Kawasaki oil filter they will (in all probability) also sell you an OEM socket/wrench thingie which fits on top of the oil filter, over the multi-faceted end cap, with a 1/2" hole in the end for your trusty 1/2" ratchet.
Apparently if you buy a Hoonda filter you get one for nix, so make friends with a Hoonda owner and when they're not looking, steal theirs...
I had shitloads of trouble with my first oil change, took 2.5 hours. The next with this socket took 15 minutes. Best $15 I ever spent...
