I go full comprehensive every time.
cos there's always some idiot in a van waiting to reverse into your bike as soon as you park it.

Bushy you will be more torn if you were to hit some yuppie in a mercedes Benz & got stung with a bill for tens of thousands or even worse hurt someone, you should at a minium have 3rd party. There are quite a few members round here that will think twice about going for a ride with someone that does not have insurance, & on a motorcycle you have a much higher risk of coming to grief than any car driver so the odds are stacked against you.

I think you'd better give better information about your options and the associated costs if we're gonna be able to give specific advice!

Bushy, That's sounds excessive for third party fire and theft.
Shop around, NRMA and GIO are not really into bikes so try insuremyride.com, jltsport.com, if your over 40, Arista and if you are a member of Motorcycling Australia (ma.org.au) QBE will discount their premium.
And be honest with your previous insurance history, cause they don't check it out until you make a claim and that's when you need insurance. You don't need it when you pay the premium..........
I'm with QBE, costs me around $600 full comp....... for $13,000 on the 10

I have just been getting quotes for the 10 and the cheapest (who would have me after a licence suspension in the last 5yrs) was a company I had not heard of before called Famous insurance.
Worth a look,
www.famousinsurance.com.au
