Drink-driver caught twice in one day: police
A Melbourne man has been charged with drink-driving twice in one morning after getting back into his car following a positive breath test in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda.
The man was breath tested by police in Greeves Street about 7.15am on Saturday and immediately had his licence suspended after a follow-up test allegedly confirmed his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit, police said.
A short time later, police noticed the man's car had disappeared from its parking space and a police car was sent to search for it.
The man was found driving in his home suburb of Hampton, in Melbourne's south.
He was taken to Moorabbin police station after allegedly returning a second breath test reading over the legal limit.
He is expected to be charged on summons with two counts of exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol and one count of driving while suspended.
Goose B:
Naked man goes on rampage in St Kilda, smashing the windows of the tea room at West Beach Bathers Pavilion
AN angry skinny dipper lashed out and smashed two windows at a St Kilda tea rooms after he allegedly had a fight with his girlfriend.
The naked man was captured on the West Beach Bathers Pavilion’s CCTV cameras kicking and punching the windows in the early hours of December 28.
It is believed the man was on holidays from Perth.
The blow came less than two weeks before the tea rooms, in a heritage-listed art deco building, opened.
Owner Ivor van der Sluys said he was shocked to discover the smashed windows.
"I went through the CCTV footage and couldn’t see anything and eventually scanned through it all in a bit more detail and saw this guy come off the beach and was obviously quite angry and put his foot through two windows,’’ Mr van der Sluys said.
"I thought the CCTV footage was pretty good so I passed it on to the police and they caught up with him pretty quickly.’’
The man, believed to be in his 20s, will pay $1500 in damages and has not been charged.
Mr van der Sluys said the tea rooms had been targeted since the skinny dipper’s attack.
"We’ve only just been open two weeks and we’ve probably had three or four incidents where people are breaking furniture and ripping out pot plants,’’ he said.
"I guess we didn’t expect so much late night damage.’’
