The latter part is what shits me about velcro, I have Medal boots, one big MF zip and 5 press studs, not a piece of velcro in sight and only had water in them once, great boots, highly recommend them if you a) live in Victoria and b) he is still in business, some conjecture on the latter.

Studs are way better for cuff's, than velcro. Velcro catches lots of shit, and loosens up over time.
Studs give a tighter fit of the cuff, and are easier to get a glove over, than a fat velcro strip which sticks up and will get in the way of every glove you try to fit over the velcro.
Studs FTW !!!

My AStars leather jacket is zippper with stud - perfect!
My rst textile jacket is velcro cuffs only - harder to get glove over like Gos said but still works well otherwise about 400 uses later. I think it suits the textile jacket more because it's very easy to use with the thinner material (not leather) and looks more modern for what it's worth because my old dryrider textile was kinda clunky with studs flopping around on the cuff.

I think velcro and zippers both do the same thing. I would go studs with a zipper as they last longer as well.

Studs
Pro's - Studs wear better and often hold there fastening strength longer. Studs are easier to fit gloves over on cuffs, studs do not catch on other materials.
Con's - Studs do not give the same infinite range of adjustment, Studs scratch paint, studs heat up and leave burn marks on your skin when you crash.
Velcro
Pro's - Velcro is infinitely adjustable, Velcro is fast to do up and undo, Velcro transfers little heat in a slide. Velcro will not scratch paintwork.
Cons - Harder to get gloves over a cuff, It looks tatty after a short period, It catches on other fabrics and wears out helmet straps, Harder to get gloves over the cuff.

my jacket has both. velcro at the bottom (where studs might scratch the tank) and studs at the top

I'm thinking that both have their time and place so depends on the application..... although....in my experience...
velcro doesn't rust like studs do... nor do you need a special press stud tool to replace them.
