ZX10R Road/Track Tyres

I've just read the posts by ZX9R01 (Mick) last November about the Dunlops but you said you are really a Conti man (and in the trade). I've just bought an 08 ZX10R with Supercorsas at half-life and am a bit worried about using them to ride to PI in October as it usually rains. I'm a fast tourer rather than a track man. In your professional experience, what tyres should I be looking at next? The Brits seem to favour Pirellis for road with a bit of track but I liked the characteristics that you said you looked for to compensate for the 10's peculiarities - so many riders get splattered it seems.

First let me say that I sell tyres for living. However I am Continetal man thru and thru. I have used nearly every tyre on the market and I ride an 08 ZX10R. As well as an 05 ZX10r thats about to hit the road again.I may not be the quickest out there but I certainly push along at a respectful pace. A few weeks ago I fitted up a set of the new Dunlop GPR’s to my 08 Zx10R.

Honestly mate, so long as you pick any sports oriented tyre you'll be fine. Anything as sticky or stickier than a Michelin Pilot Power or Metzeler M3 will far exceed anything you're going to throw at it on the road.

I think people tend to overthink tyres these days, they are all good so long as you stick to the type of tyre that is appropriate for the bike.

Hi Don,

The tyres that best suit your bike are the Dunlop Q2 and the NEW Conti Road Attack 2 or the new Bridgestone 023 for that style of riding. Nice stable front and awsome handling. I have had all tyres except the Pirellis on my bike.
The Bridgestones are OK but not as sweet as the Road Attack 2's or the dunlop. Nice transition into the lean and stable i the cornrers.

The compound of the new Conti Road attack 2, is 20% longer lasting so it will make atrip to the Island and back and still have tyre to play with. I have 3,500k's on a set and they are just showing signs of wear.

I put the Road Attack 2's from Mick's ($470 fitted) this week and I have just got back from Mt Glorious run and I must say they're pretty good.
Confidence inspiring grip as well as comfortable given the pot holes, lotsa leaves, gravel, expensive but nice coffee, police and and brief rain shower
The Conti's at first did feel a bit weird (or is tall?) compared to the Metz's that were previously on it.
