From the "it seemed like a good idea at the time" file. My partner's daughter has just got her L's and loves the retro look scooters; she found the scoot of her dreams in Goolwa, SA. School holidays had just started so we thought we'd zip over to SA on the Sprint, and I'd escort my partner back as she rode the mighty 150cc Espresso scooter back. The 740k ride over was brilliant (a nice high speed run on the Friday, over the Murray on the ferry at Wellington, then a few little twisties through Strathalbyn and Langhorne Creek to Goolwa on Friday evening). The ride back was 'interesting'. Once we realised a) the scooter wouldn't comfortably push over 80kph, and b) the position could be made more comfortable by using the pillion pegs as rider footpegs

we decided to come back via the back roads via Meningie

Kingston SE

Naracoorte

and Edenhope. Not surprisingly we took two days to get back but saw stuff you wouldn't normally see at interstate speeds - tortoises crossing the road to mate, echidnas in the verges and so on. Wouldn't necessarily do it again

; blew out the cobwebs with a run over Reefton Spur down to Wilson's Prom with my partner back on her FZR250, my son on his YZF600 and his mate on his CBR250RR; surprisingly no 150cc scooters were there

Why didn't you just put the scooter in the sprint's panniers?
But seriously, the slower speeds do give a much better appreciation of the surroundings!, and quite an epic trip for the little scoot!

Epic trip...
at least you will be safe from spearing off and hitting a tree traveling at that speed.

How did you get on for fuel in that small tank ?????
I met a woman at the Motogp one year on a Vespa............. She rode from the South of Tassie with a 10 Ltr jerry can of fuel between her feet

6.8l at 30km/l = lots of small fuel bills. Bought $2.19 at one stop (last of the big spenders), to make sure she had fuel for the 170k to the next town

It was a lot of fun ignoring the speed limits. 100? Ha! Just kept it pinned!

$2.19 to fill the tank, so we could make it to the next town. We'd only gone 40k from the last servo, but she wouldn't go 210k on a tank! We stopped at a lot of servos

We once meet a young lass heading from Walwa to Tassie on a posty bike with top speed of 65 k/m hour loaded to the hilton! She was very happy to cruise at this speed!I think I would go mad!!!!
