At work we were silent for the Australian War Heros & marking our respect on Remembrance Day, this is so important as a tradition & has special significance for those of us with family connections to the fallen.

went to the Western Front (from where the top 2 pics come from) in May 2004 and
did the Somme, Ieper (Flanders), Villers, Passchendaele, Hamel etc then while driving from Paris to Amsterdam
specifically stayed for 4 days using Ieper (Ypres) as a base and also to see the nightly Menin Gate ceremony at Ieper
did Gelibolou (to give its correct name) or Gallipoli as most know it in Sept 2008
in 3½weeks around Turkey, Greece and Italy. did part of Turkey in a mini bus with 5 other Aussies
and arrived at Anzac Cove early in the morning (after a short trip from Cannakale over the Dardanelles)
there was no-one else at Anzac Cove when we got there...just us lot (and the Turkish driver and guide)
it was unreal, eerie, spooky but not scary spooky...dunno how else really to put the feeling we had while
walking around the beach and Lone Pine. It was just something that made you suck your breath in, respect
the quietness of the place ...and remember
